Method 1: remove the musty smell on the cloth.
1, wash clothes with white vinegar. Clothes, curtains and sheets can be washed in the washing machine. Choose the normal amount of water, pour in 240 ml of white vinegar and soak the clothes for 30 minutes. Then run the ordinary washing program, and add the fragrant liquid clothes softener during rinsing. When you use the dryer, you can also put a piece of clothing paper. The above steps can be repeated if necessary. When the clothes are dry, the vinegar will dissipate.
You may use too much detergent or fabric softener. This will cause soap to remain on clothes, making it less absorbent and easy to smell musty.
2. Wash clothes with baking soda. Clothes, curtains and sheets can be sterilized with baking soda. Select the normal amount of water, pour in180g baking soda, and soak the clothes for 30 minutes. Then run the ordinary washing program.
3. Wash or soak pure white clothes with bleach. Put the white clothes into the washing machine, and be careful not to put too much. Pour detergent and choose warm water to wash. After the washing machine is filled with water, pour 240 ml of bleach. If there are few clothes, the dosage can be reduced appropriately. Run the normal washing program. Bleach can remove stains and odors caused by mold. However, you have to check the labels on your clothes first to see if they can be washed with bleach. Colored clothes will fade when washed with chlorine bleach.
Bleach can permanently fade or damage clothes or fabrics. Natural fabrics such as silk, wool or animal fibers are easily damaged by bleach. Check whether there is a warning message "Do not bleach" on the clothes label.
Don't often use chlorine bleach to wash clothes, otherwise it will damage linen, cotton and man-made fibers. Once in a while, it does little harm to the fabric.
4. After washing clothes, hang them outside to dry. Exposing fabrics to sunlight and fresh air can naturally deodorize them. Make sure they are dry before putting them in the house. Moldy clothes are usually caused by moisture trapped in the cloth and cannot be dissipated. Always pay attention to the weather. When it is wet or rainy outside, remember to put all the clothes in the house. Try not to hang out all night. Prolonged exposure to moisture outside the house will make clothes moldy.
Method 2: Eliminate the musty smell on electrical appliances.
1, clean electrical appliances with white vinegar solution. Dilute 1 tablespoon (about 1 5ml) baking soda with1liter of water. Soak a piece of cloth in the solution, wring it out and wipe all the appliances. Sprinkle the solution on the inner surface of the appliance, stuff the crumpled old newspaper in to fill the gap, and leave it for 24 hours or until it dries. Take out the newspaper, rinse the appliance with water, and then let it dry thoroughly. Before cleaning the refrigerator, be sure to defrost the freezer and take out all the food.
2. Put a box of open baking soda in the refrigerator. If the refrigerator is in operation, the odor will be absorbed by baking soda within a few days. Change baking soda frequently according to the instructions on the box.
3. Put a small dish of vanilla extract in the refrigerator. Put a few teaspoons of vanilla extract in a small dish and put it in the refrigerator to make sure it doesn't spill. Leave it for 3 weeks to remove the musty or smelly smell in the refrigerator. Vanilla extract is not suitable for freezing room. The temperature in the freezing room will lead to the solidification of vanilla extract, which can not effectively deodorize it.
4. Use dishwashing liquid, baking soda, vinegar and vanilla extract to remove the odor from the oven. Commercial oven cleaners are toxic and leave an unpleasant smell. In fact, as long as you use some kitchen supplies, you can easily remove the smell of smoke or odor from the oven. You can make your own oven cleaner as follows: Pour 1 20ml dishwashing liquid, 270g baking soda, 60ml white vinegar and1teaspoon vanilla extract into a glass bowl and mix well.
Add enough water to make the mixture into a thick paste, not too thin. Apply the thick paste to the inner surface of the oven and leave it overnight, about 6 to 8 hours.
Let the mixture foam inside, so as to remove the dirt on the surface. Scrub the oven with a brush and water. You can repeat it if necessary.
You can also fill the spray bottle with the same amount of white vinegar and water. Spray the solution inside the oven and wipe it clean with a wet sponge. This can get rid of the bad smell, but it can't get rid of the food or grease stuck in it.
Sometimes, burnt food will stick in the oven. You can sprinkle salt on it and wipe it clean with a wet cloth after the oven cools down.
5. Use bleach or vinegar to remove the musty smell of the washing machine. Washing machines can also be moldy, especially drum washing machines, and even freshly washed clothes will get moldy smell. Take out the clothes from the washing machine and pour in 240 ml of bleach or vinegar. Select "hot water" and run for a short time under the ordinary washing program. Then empty the water inside. Occasionally, when the washing machine is not in use, open the lid or front door to prevent mildew inside.
Clean the inner and outer surfaces of the washing machine with diluted bleach or vinegar. Add 2 teaspoons of bleach or 2 tablespoons of white vinegar for every 4 liters of water. Wet the paper towel with water, and then wipe all surfaces. Wait until 12 hours or the washing machine is completely dry before washing.
Method 3: Remove the musty smell in the damp room.
1, open cabinets, closed rooms and huts to let the air circulate. Mould likes damp, dark and cool places. You can turn on the fan, dehumidifier or window to reduce indoor humidity. It is best to keep the humidity in the room below 40%. Hire professional workers to help you remove moldy ceiling boards, carpets, linoleum or gypsum boards. These things can't be cleaned and may be harmful to health.
2. Scrub the hard surface with detergent. Scrub non-porous hard surfaces with warm water and detergent, including walls, drawers, composite floors, concrete floors or tile floors.
3, homemade mixed spices to cover up the smell of the room. Put cinnamon twig, orange peel and whole clove into a pot of water, and put it on the stove and cook it slowly with low fire. Put a pot mat in a moldy room, turn off the fire when the water starts to boil, move the pot to the pot mat and let it cool slowly. You can also tie mixed spices or dried petals in pantyhose and hang them next to the cooling holes when cooking in the stove.
4. Absorb moisture with cat litter. Clothes that you don't wear will also be moldy. You can pour cat litter into a tray or box and put it where you store these clothes, such as a cupboard or attic, to reduce moisture and eliminate odor. Sprays of brands such as Oust can also temporarily eliminate the musty smell.
5. Hang a net bag filled with volcanic debris in a wet place. Most hardware stores and DIY stores sell them, and they can be put in basements, cabinets, shacks or shoes for natural deodorization. Check the instructions on the bag to see how many bags and bags of volcanic debris are needed per square meter.
6. Mix the same amount of vinegar and water to wipe the doors and windows. Then put a thin layer of coconut oil on the window sill or the edge of the door and window to prevent these places from becoming moldy again. The mildew-proof effect of coconut oil can last for months. If you want to disinfect and kill mold, you can mix180ml bleach with warm water. Put on rubber gloves, dip a sponge in the solution, and then scrub the surface. Rinse with water after 5 minutes. Let them dry naturally.
Check windows, doors and walls regularly to see if they are moldy or musty again. If necessary, repeat the above steps for disinfection.
Method 4: Remove the musty smell of furniture and carpets.
1, kill mold spores with chlorine dioxide. This method is mainly used to control the musty smell on ships, and also used to control the outbreak of mold in libraries. There are chlorine dioxide in small packages on the market, which is convenient for people to use on ships and cabinets. Apply the liquid to a moldy place and let it dry naturally. If the local hardware store doesn't sell chlorine dioxide, you can order it online.
2. Locally treat the mildew stains on the carpet with hydrogen peroxide. Mix 3 teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide with 5 teaspoons of water, dip a little solution with a thick paint brush and wipe the moldy place. Hydrogen peroxide will bleach or dilute the color. Try it in an inconspicuous place first to see its influence on the carpet.
3. Clean the carpet with baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda on the dry carpet, and then wipe it with a wet sponge mop, so that baking soda can penetrate into the carpet fibers to play a role. When the carpet is completely dry, use a vacuum cleaner to remove baking soda. You may need to clean it twice with a vacuum cleaner and vacuum it in the opposite direction to completely remove the baking soda.
You can also hire professionals to clean carpets, or rent a DIY carpet cleaner from a hardware store or grocery store.
Small carpets or doormats can be washed in the washing machine. Remember to check the cleaning instructions on the label first.
4. Clean cupboards and wooden cases with baking soda. Putting an open box of baking soda into a cupboard or wooden box can eliminate odor and absorb moisture. It will take at least 2 to 3 days to take it out. You can also mix the same amount of baking soda with water to wipe the surface of cupboards, wooden cases or drawers. Then put a pad to keep these places clean.
Open a can or a box of fresh coffee powder and put it in these small places to deodorize effectively. Leave it for 2 to 3 days before taking it out, or replace it with new coffee powder.
You can also take out everything inside and sprinkle a thin layer of coffee powder or baking soda on the surface. Clean it with a vacuum cleaner or wipe it with a wet cloth after 2 to 3 days. Open cupboards, wooden cases or drawers and let them dry naturally.
Method 5: Remove the musty smell of other articles.
1, remove the musty smell of shoes with baking soda. Sprinkle a few teaspoons of baking soda into the sole, put the shoes in a plastic self-sealing bag and seal them, then put them in the freezer for one night. Take it out the next morning and pour baking soda into the trash can. You can also sprinkle other deodorant powder in your shoes, such as Odor Eaters.
Tuck the crumpled newspaper into wet shoes, especially sports shoes or non-slip shoes. The newspaper was soaked and put on a new one. This can make shoes dry faster and prevent wet shoes from getting moldy or smelly.
2. Open the suitcase or backpack and let them ventilate. Leave things out in the sun for a few days. Heat and light help to kill mold and bacteria. You can also use a disinfectant paper towel to wipe things, especially things made of plastic or other hard materials.
Put a few pieces of clothing paper in your suitcase or backpack, or put some cat litter and baking soda in your bag and put it in your suitcase or backpack to deodorize.
Put soap bars wrapped in plastic film in unused suitcases and backpacks. Put one for each main compartment and big bag.
3. Open the tent and let it ventilate. Move the tent to the backyard and set it up on a sunny day. You may not be able to get rid of the mold stains, but you can get rid of the odor by scrubbing well according to the manufacturer's instructions and basking in the sun for a few days. After camping, make sure that the tent is completely dry before it can be rolled up and put away.
4. Use baking soda to keep the air inside the car fresh. Sprinkle some baking soda on the car seat cushion and floor, and then suck it up with a vacuum cleaner. You can also hang a small bottle of air freshener on the rearview mirror. Put an open box of coffee powder or a plate of cat litter in the trunk and let it stand overnight to absorb the odor.
Mix 120 ml bleach with 4 liters of hot water, spray diluted bleach solution on the rubber pad, and then rinse it with water pipe. Choose a warm and sunny day to clean the rubber pads, so that they can be hung outside to dry naturally.
5. Eliminate the bad smell of books with fragments of volcanic rocks. You can buy fragments of volcanic rocks in hardware stores. They are usually packed in net bags, which can absorb the bad smell or musty smell with books. Put the net bag containing volcanic debris into a clean plastic bucket. Plastic buckets must have lids.
Put the clean milk box on the volcanic rock, and put the books vertically inside.
Cover the book and seal it for a few days before taking it out.
Tip Don't use bleach or ammonia water to clean electrical appliances, they will damage the gasket and may release harmful smoke.
If you don't have a washing machine, you can put your clothes in a sink or bucket filled with warm water and soak them for 30 minutes.
Most indoor sprays can only cover up bad smells, but can't eliminate them. Products such as Oust will temporarily deceive your sense of smell and make your brain think that the smell has disappeared. These are only temporary measures, and you need to solve the root of the problem.
Make sure the clothes are clean and dry before putting them in the closet or drawer.
Make sure the towel is completely dry before you throw it into the laundry basket with other clothes.
Throw away moldy carpets or mats.
The musty smell is usually caused by dampness or bacteria. If you don't solve the root of the problem, the musty smell will persist, or it will recur soon.
Don't store things in cold, dark and humid places to avoid breeding mold.
If it still smells musty, you might as well clean the washing machine or wardrobe drawer. Sometimes it's these places that are moldy, not your clothes.
If the house leaks or there are problems with water pipes, walls or roofs, it should be repaired as soon as possible to avoid breeding mold.
Warning chlorine dioxide is very irritating. If you choose to use it, be sure to open the doors and windows to ventilate the room. Wait until its smell dissipates before moving in this room. If you use it to get rid of the bad smell in the cupboard, you should close the cupboard door.
Basement, attic, ventilation holes, power supply lines or water pipes will breed a lot of mold and produce toxic substances. If you find a lot of mold, be sure to wear a mask to avoid inhaling spores. Wear gloves when cleaning and wash your hands after cleaning.
Contact the local government or neighborhood committee and ask them to recommend a mold control company to you. Before signing any service contract, you must shop around and make sure that if the mold recurs, they will provide free service again. Don't try to remove mold yourself.
Mixed use of chemicals is dangerous and may cause explosion, especially bleach. When you want to mix household cleaners, it is best to use a clean glass bowl or measuring cup. Do not reuse the spray bottle. Buy empty spray bottles at the hardware store and label them.
When using commercial cleaners or bleaches, be sure to make sure that the room is ventilated and there is sufficient air circulation.
Hard surfaces, carpets and mats must be thoroughly dried before baking soda can be sprinkled. Otherwise, the moisture trapped on these surfaces will harden the baking soda, which can't effectively absorb the odor, and it is difficult to clean it up afterwards.
