There are two types of bovine schistosomiasis: schistosomiasis japonica and schistosomiasis ornithosis. The disease presents acute onset, chronic onset and asymptomatic with three types of worms. Among them, the acute type is not much, most of the chronic type of disease. After suffering from this disease, the body temperature rises to more than 40 ℃, some of the high fever does not go away, and some are intermittent high fever. Spirit is sluggish, slow reaction, leaving the herd to stand. Dyspepsia, reduced food intake, weakness and emaciation, anemia, difficulty in getting up and lying down. Diarrhea, feces with shed mucous membranes and blood, the late stage of the disease is incontinence, discharged feces are mostly paste. Milk production of cows decreases, cows do not come into heat and do not conceive, and pregnant cows abort. Severe cases can suffer from cirrhosis of the liver and large amounts of ascites, which swells the abdomen.
Treatment
(1) Blood Defense 846 (hexachloro-p-xylene) is injected intramuscularly. Use an oil solution of 40 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day for five days. Oral administration of this drug using tablets, 100 milligrams per kilogram of body weight per day for 10 days. In case of side effects, treat symptomatically.
(2) Antimony potassium tartrate intravenously. 6-8 mg per kilogram of body weight of the sick cow, divided into 6 parts and prepared into a 3% solution for injection. It is injected once a day in the morning and once in the afternoon for 3 days. When injected, it can be mixed into glucose solution. However, the use of this drug should be moderate. The total dose for yellow cattle should not exceed 1.6 grams, and the daily dose should not exceed 0.5 grams.
(3) Furapropamide is taken orally. 2 to 3 grams per day for 14 to 20 days. The dose is halved for the first 2 days. This drug is indicated only for acute schistosomiasis.
(4) Intramuscular injection of Benyl (triazamidine), 14 to 16 mg per kg of body weight of the sick cow, in 3 days, once a day.
(5) 35 grams of dried roots of Pai Qian Cao, 55 grams of red and white Poria, 45 grams of poria, 55 grams of large eggplant, 23 grams of sand nuts, 6 grams of Cangzhu, atractylodes macrocephala, 160 grams of garlic, add water and decoct the juice, and instill it.
