If you ask people in Shenyang where Dadong’s non-staple food is, no one will say they don’t know. Dadong Food is not only a Chinese time-honored brand recognized by the Ministry of Domestic Trade of China, but also one of the city's landmark names. Although compared with the surrounding nearly 10 internationally renowned large supermarkets such as Wal-Mart, Dafuyuan, Tesco, and Carrefour, its architecture is From the styling to the interior decoration, Dadong Food seems a bit simple and unpretentious. However, before opening on normal days, there are still a large number of people queuing up here waiting to enter. During the holidays, the place is even more crowded. If we count from the time when "Dongguan Food Store", the predecessor of Dadong Food, appeared, it has been living and growing with this city for almost 180 years. Even a stone will have feelings for this place. and dependence, so even if some people move away from here, they still take the bus to buy things, which is nothing new.
Enter through the main entrance of Dadong Non-staple Food. On the front is a free business area in the style of stalls for staple food such as steamed buns, bread, dumplings, etc., and on the left is the entrance to the supermarket. It is different from the entrance of any other supermarket. It is built in the style of a city gate in the past. The light gray city walls and city gates stand out compared to the brightly colored business areas around them. Above the city gate, there is a plaque with gold characters on a red background that reads "The First Line in Shengjing". On the wall on the east side of the doorway are some reproduced and posted old pictures of "Dongguan Cuisine Shop" from various periods, which reproduce the prosperity of that time. On the west side is the historical evolution of "Dongguan Food Store" with gold characters on a black background, giving people a better understanding of the predecessor of Dadong Non-staple Food. The people around me are modern people, and the products on display are today's products, but in front of me is the Dongguan Food Store of more than a hundred years ago.
Enter the supermarket from Chengmen Cave. On the left side are six statues of six people who were born in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. They have experienced the historical changes of the food store and can be called witnesses of the development of Shenyang's non-staple food business. They all worked in "Dongguan Food Store" and have now passed away. Some of these people are former shopkeepers of chicken shops, butcher shops, vegetable shops, fish stalls, etc., and each of them has unique skills. For example, Pan Xiushan was born in Shenyang. No one knows his birth and death dates, but they remember his nickname "Pan Jizier". An egg seller can be remembered for his unique skills that he has practiced for many years. He can reach into the egg basket, grab five eggs at the same time, and turn them one by one in his palm at the same time. In the process, he can identify the quality of the eggs. The old saying "Three hundred and sixty years of practice will lead to the best" should be the best interpretation of the life experiences of these characters.
The southern section of the figure sculpture was built using a combination of Central Plains architectural style and Soviet-style painting. The 100-meter old Ming and Qing block has a strong quaint flavor. Merchants strive to restore and restore the "Eastern" style at that time. "Guan Cai Xing" looks like in the hearts of Shenyang people. All counters are made of gray tiles and blue bricks, with carved beams and painted beams, exquisite brackets, and wooden counters with big red blessing characters on them. There are Laolongkou Baijiu, Rice Wine Juyifang, Xingluo Shaobing, Dongguan Sesame Oil Fang, Gongmi, Jufumihao, Caoji Real Estate, etc. The wooden signboards on the stall doors, the eye-catching cloth covers, and the paper labels affixed above the stalls all present the prosperity of the past. Rows of aluminum alloy shelves commonly used in "old neighborhoods" and modern large supermarkets are only two or three steps away from a mountain of various products. From Dongguan Food Store to today's Dadong Non-staple Food It has been going for hundreds of years.
According to Shenyang local chronicles and other historical records, in 1829 AD (the ninth year of Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty), a regular vegetable morning market naturally formed along the moat of Xiaodongmen in the old Shenyang at that time, and local residents sold their own vegetables. Vegetables are a non-staple food market with a radius of nearly a hundred miles. This is the earliest non-staple food market selling vegetables in Shenyang. It is called "Dongguan Market", also known as "Dongguan Vegetable Store". In 1933, the Japanese and puppets moved the Dongguan Food Store to near Fujinmen, which is the current site of Dadong Food Store, and changed it to Fengtianying Dongguan Market, which is commonly known as the Dadong Food Store. After the public-private partnership in 1956, Dadong Food Store was officially named Shenyang Dadong Non-staple Food Store in 1958, and the businesses operated by the bank became employees of Dadong Food Store. After the reform and opening up, it was renamed Dadong Food Mall.
