Why should fresh water be added when breeding Penaeus monodon and Penaeus vannamei?
Because Penaeus monodon and Penaeus vannamei are shrimps in euryhaline, their adaptive salinity is 0.5 ~ 45. Facts have proved that the salinity of these two kinds of prawns is almost equal to zero in some places, and they are still very successful.

The whole cultivation process can be divided into three stages:

(1) The salinity of the shrimp pond must be close to that of the nursery factory, preferably 20 ~ 23.

(2) When the prawns grow to about 5 cm, the pond water will be gradually desalinated, that is, fresh water will be injected into the shrimp pond, so that the salinity of the pond water will gradually reach10 ~15, then it will be desalinated to about 8, and then it can be desalinated until the prawns grow to more than 12 cm.

(3) Half a month before shrimp harvest, slowly raise the salinity of shrimp pond water to above 20. The main function of increasing salinity in the last stage is to make the shrimp shell hard, the muscles firm and the vitality stronger, and make it a commercial shrimp with high survival rate and good price.
