(1) Sweet cherry

(Prunus avium L.)

Also known as large cherry and American cherry. The tree is strong and strong, with upright branches and dark gray-brown bark. The leaves are large and thick, yellowish-green to green, long ovate or ovate, with a tapered apex. The leaves are 6 to 15 cm long, and the petiole is dark red, 3 to 4 cm long, with 1 to 4 pink kidney-shaped ones on it. Nectary glands; each flower bud blooms 2 to 5 flowers, the flowers are large and white, opening at the same time as the leaves; the fruit is large, 1 to 3.5 cm in diameter, a single fruit weighs 6 to 12 grams, the skin is yellow, red or purple, round or heart-shaped , the fruit stalk is 2.5-5 cm long, the pulp and peel are not easy to separate, the flesh has two types: soft flesh and hard flesh, sweet taste, free from the core or sticky to the core.

(2) Chinese cherry

(Prunus pseudocerasus L.)

Small tree or shrub. The branches are dark gray; the branches and leaves are dense; the leaves are dark green, thin and soft, egg-elliptical, with white or slightly red flowers, 4 to 7 flowers in racemes, or 2 to 7 flowers in clusters, early flowering; the fruits are small , a single fruit weighs 1 to 2.5 grams, and is red, orange or yellow; the fruit stem has two lengths, the longer one is 2 to 2.5 times the longitudinal diameter of the fruit; the pulp is juicy, and the skin is thin and cannot be transported. It is easy to root tillers and has weaker cold tolerance than sweet cherries.
