The perennial fleshy herb is a variety of Aloe vera from the family Liliaceae, also known as Aloe mottled.

The full height of the plant is about 80cm. the leaves are clustered in nearly 2 rows, linear-lanceolate, with yellow spots, fleshy and juicy. The margins are spiny-denticulate. Scape up to 70cm raceme with 10 flowers, flowers yellow-green, with red spots, flowering in summer and fall. Commonly cultivated in South China, also wild. Breeding with sucking buds, overwintering temperature needs more than 15 ℃, suitable for pots and greenhouse planting.

Containing less anthraquinones, it is an ideal species of edible aloe vera. It has been listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. Leaf juice (dried product is irregular mass of broken particles, brown or black-green) treatment of burns and fire injuries, cough and diuretic, but also beauty.
