How to make lanterns by hand

An empty aluminum can, several yogurt cups, nylon rope, ribbons of various colors, wrapping paper, etc., plus scissors, glue, transparent tape, double-sided tape and other tools are enough. Based on these materials, the shape of a lantern was initially formed in my mind.

Aluminum cans can be used as the main body of the lantern. As for the yogurt cups, I decided to hang them around the main body to make them look like wind chimes.

Start making the lantern -

Drill a hole in the bottom of the yogurt cup first;

Cut a length of golden ribbon and glue a piece at intervals on the ribbon Double-sided tape.

This work can be done by Xiao Mi Ding. To be honest, making lanterns is a bit difficult for a 4-year-old child, so even though it is a parent-child homework, Xiao Mi Ding can’t do much. In addition to gluing on double-sided tape, you can only hand me scissors and glue, take this and that, and pour tea and water.

After sticking the double-sided tape on the ribbon, wrap it around the yogurt cup and stick it;

Use thin wire to wrap around the aluminum can and fix it with transparent tape;

Then put the yogurt cups wrapped with ribbons on the wire one by one. Xiaomi Ding is indeed a good helper. She has been patiently holding the jar and letting me hold the yogurt cup.

I picked up two layers of yogurt cups, 5 on each side. The decoration of the upper cup was changed, and I added a circle of purple ribbon on the lower cup, because I felt that the gold ribbon was too light and not conspicuous enough.

A yogurt cup is also hung at the bottom of the jar and glued firmly with transparent tape.

Put a few nylon ropes into the cup at the bottom and tear them into filaments to make silk spikes.

The lantern has been basically made, and the next step is the overall decoration -

Tie a bow with a ribbon and stick it on the top of the jar; tear the nylon ribbon into thin strips and use transparent tape on it. Glue a circle around the can body and let it naturally bend and sag;

Cut the wrinkled wrapping paper into small pieces and stick it on the can body randomly to cover the text on the can; finally, use ribbons to separate the upper and lower ends of the can. Make a circle, and the entire lantern is decorated!

Look at the overall effect -

This lantern is actually very simple to make, but the process is still relatively complicated. Moreover, during the day, Xiao Miting had to go to kindergarten, so I waited until after dinner in the evening to do it with Xiao Miting, so it took a few days to finish it.

Tomorrow the kindergarten will rank the participating lanterns and issue certificates. I really hope my lantern can win the award!
