Newts are long and narrow. The head is small and conical. The compound eye is small and prominent, with 2 single eyes. The front chest backboard is oval, the back is raised like a shield, and both sides extend downward, almost wrapping the basal segment of the forefoot. The forefoot is characterized by a thick and short structure, the base joint is extremely short and wide, the leg joint is slightly bent and flaky, and the tibial joint is short and triangular, with strong spikes, which is convenient for excavation.
Newts usually move at night, but they can also move during the day when the temperature is suitable. When the relative humidity of soil is 22-27%, the damage of North China mole cricket is the greatest. When the soil is dry, there is little activity and light damage, and adults have phototaxis.
