How can I raise my IQ?-Intelligence is multi-faceted, some children are literary, some are mathematical, some are artistic, and some are manipulative, so you can't rely on IQ alone to judge a child.
- In the past, the measurement of an exceptional child was based on IQ only, but this only gave a very limited picture. Nowadays, the measurement of an exceptional child is also based on the overall quality of the child's abilities.
-Whether a child is exceptional or not, and whether he or she continues to be exceptional, depends not only on intelligence, but also on non-intellectual factors.
-Children have a variety of differences, each child has its own potential, parents should be good at discovering, not forced to develop in a certain area.
-Some parents are so busy with their work that they neglect to recognize their children's talents, and some of them get buried.
-There are children who do not have a talent in a particular area and are struggling to learn, so they should be guided according to their interests. After all, exceptional children are only a minority.
-Children have strengths, but they choose different ways to express them, so parents should find them and create the conditions for them to do so.

Interview Notes
Professor Zixiu Cha is one of China's leading researchers in the field of abnormal children. Prof. Zixiu Cha is a pioneer and expert in the field of research on abnormal children in China, and she naturally came to mind when we were arranging the list of experts to be interviewed. Because many parents once regarded their children as child prodigies, but whether the children really have supernormal abilities, and how to discover and cultivate them, let's listen to what the experts have to say! Prof. Cha had just retired, but was very busy with the research project at hand. She learned about the book's program through email and took the time to arrange an interview with the author a week in advance.
Feng: Could you please talk about what is a normal child from a professional point of view? How to make a judgment in terms of IQ, EQ and mental health? How can parents determine whether their children are normal?
Cha: People have individual differences, and differences within the normal range are the norm, while gifted children are exceptional. Since the 19th century, normalcy has been measured in terms of intelligence. The scale shows that children of different ages have different intelligence. According to the post-test scores, children of the same age have a normal curve of IQ. Scores from 90 to 100 are considered normal, 115 or more is upper middle, and 130 or more is genius. The percentage of geniuses is only 1% to 3%. Since ancient times, China has had a tradition of selecting and training extraordinary children, the so-called prodigies, and has rich experience in this area. There are many folk methods to determine whether a child's intelligence is normal or abnormal.
Feng: The measurements are what you would call an IQ, right?
Cha: Yes. But there are different measures of IQ. Overall, 130 points or more accounted for 1% to 3%, the upper middle accounted for 15% to 20%, below the upper middle is normal, while 80 points is borderline, if the score is in the 50s or 60s is mentally retarded, foreign countries called intellectually backward. Fewer are at the two ends of the spectrum, and between the two ends is the norm, the curve is normally distributed.
Feng: Is it true that this measure is rarely used at home, but mainly in schools?
Cha: Yes. In foreign countries, this measurement is very tightly controlled. People who do this kind of measurement work have to be trained, educated and certified to be qualified to do this work. This work was first done to measure IQ. With the development of science, people's understanding of extraordinary children gradually increased, and realized that gifted children are not just high IQ. There are various types of gifted children and they reach different levels of height. Take IQ for example, there are more than 130, there are more than 180, and even more than 200, which are called geniuses, our country is called extraordinary children. The reason why we call them extraordinary children is that they are beyond children of the same age and have more prominent characteristics. I have summarized a set of test methods for testing extraordinary children, mainly in several aspects: first, analogical reasoning test; second, creative thinking test; third, observation test; fourth, memory test. The combined score based on these four aspects gives the magnitude of the child's extraordinary ability. However, their subsequent development will be constrained by a variety of factors. In our country, the measurement is mainly organized by the relevant research unit to the school, this work is not yet popular.
Feng: At what age does it make sense to do this?
Cha: Not at too young an age. Children grow and develop from toddler to elementary school, under 8 years old, and if you measure under 5 years old, it is not very predictive. Measurements can be taken at all ages, but they are only used as an educational reference tool, not as a fixed IQ after measurement. The younger the age, the greater the change, and you cannot predict a person's whole life with just one measurement. There is an old Chinese saying that "what is good at an early age may not be good at a later age", and this has been the case both in the past and in the present. Intelligence is developmental and multidimensional. Research has shown that IQ is mainly a reflection of a child's learning ability and receptivity within a figurative range. Intelligence is multidimensional, some children favor literature, some favor mathematics, some favor art, and some favor manipulation, so you can't rely on IQ alone to judge a child. For example, there are children who favor the musical side of things and have just an upper-middle or moderate IQ. Not in terms of music theory, but in terms of operation, his musical hearing is particularly sensitive, strong sense of rhythm, with the qualities of music.
Feng: I've heard that there are *** geniuses who are mentally retarded in some areas and have high IQs in others?
Cha: This reflects the fact that a person's intelligence is multifaceted. This aspect of the damage, in some other aspects of good education, dig out the potential, carefully cultivated, the human brain can grow again. There are some deaf children in the academic success, they can not hear, but give full play to their eyesight, literacy since childhood, reading, play the strengths of vision, to make up for the lack of hearing. The human brain has this function. For example, Zhou Tingting, a deaf girl in Nanjing, turned into a college student who is better than the average normal child under the careful guidance of her father.
Feng: This scientific method is complicated and not easy for the average parent to understand, is there a simple way to determine if a child is normal?
Cha: That is to look at the child's development. What are the indicators at which age, parents should know, and should often make comparisons. For example, in terms of movement, a few months to sit, a few months to walk, a few months to talk, some children develop early, some later, but not necessarily a problem. For the child, parents can observe his language, behavior, understand his performance in kindergarten and school, refer to the teacher's reflections, so that you will find out whether the child is particularly intelligent, or what is wrong.
Feng: From a professional point of view, what is an exceptional child? What are the characteristics? What are the differences between the criteria for exceptional children now and in the past?
Cha: There are many types of exceptional children. The first one is the one with the highest IQ, and the second one is the one with the lowest IQ. The first one is the one with the highest IQ, and the second one is the one with the lowest IQ, and the third one is the one with the highest IQ. In the super normal also have focus, some partial science, abstract thinking ability, some partial arts, image thinking ability, super normal children is a variety of. In the past, the measurement of exceptional children was based only on intelligence, but this could only understand a few aspects. Nowadays, the measurement of exceptional children is also based on the comprehensive quality and ability, for example, an average IQ but especially gifted in art, or strong organizational ability, or strong hands-on ability, etc., a comprehensive and holistic examination. In addition, it is also based on his growth process. Whether a child can be extraordinary and continue to be extraordinary depends not only on the level of intelligence, but also on non-intellectual factors.
Feng: When did this method of measuring IQ start to be used?
Cha: In the early 19th century. In China, it was used in the 1930s. Until after the "Cultural Revolution", in 1978, a lot of waste and need a lot of talent, the Institute of Psychology of the Academy of Sciences began to study. Moreover, in the University of Science and Technology of China and other universities opened the "youth class" that is, the so-called child prodigy class, twelve or thirteen years old in college. From then to now, we have contacted psychological organizations across the country to start tracking and investigating the similarities and differences between the cognitive abilities of exceptional children and normal children, as well as the characteristics of their non-intellectual abilities. We have found that exceptional children as a group differ from normal children and have more prominent strengths. However, intellectual and non-intellectual factors interact with each other. A child's development is not always smooth. Some overdeveloped as children and then overdeveloped well, which is related to school education and thanks to better family education, children can solve their own problems when they encounter difficulties and continue to develop. But there are also children who were overdeveloped as children and did OK in college, and then not so well. Extraordinary children also have weaknesses, so such studies have to be prolonged to prevent mishaps. Overall, the development of exceptional children is influenced by a variety of factors.
Feng: I've heard that some key middle schools in big cities have set up extraordinary classes, have you conducted any follow-up studies on them?
Cha: Yes, it's also called an experimental class, which is to select children who are more outstanding in certain aspects and investigate them in various aspects. There is a child, we have been tracking research since he was more than two years old. This child likes to recognize words, every afternoon home from kindergarten, let parents teach him to recognize words. When a child is interested in a certain area and is hungry for it, the parents should be induced by the situation. This child's parents did a good job and the child developed well and is now in the United States. This child was also very interested in math at an early age. He was not yet four years old, and he was putting two numbers together, adding and subtracting, so the parents did not know whether they should teach him or not. Children are interested in knowledge, if taught well, it is very good for the development of the child, but it only strengthens a certain aspect of the teaching out of the fear of affecting the other side. Some children are not interested, and the method of teaching is inappropriate, so the child's appetite. Some children have good academic qualifications, but other aspects of the development is not good, this is not good, the child should be fully developed.
Feng: How do parents find out that their children have extraordinary characteristics? And then how to consciously guide or cultivate it?
Cha: Simply put, it is to discover the child's interests and make the best use of them. Like some children like to explore something when they were young, parents should guide him to grow up to create inventions. There is a Shanghai child, as a child like to open a variety of boxes, his parents inspired to induce him. He used the tools at home to open a power supply box and found a spring inside, so he thought, "Can't we do without the spring? Other parents might not have understood him, but his father reasoned with him. When he went to elementary school, he invented something that changed the box with the spring and got a patent. There are many children who invent when they are young, but the percentage is very small compared to those who are successful in piano, music and painting. This has to do with the parents' understanding and not being good at guiding their children's talents in natural sciences. In short, parents have to guide the interest according to the situation, but the key is still the child himself.
Feng: How can parents avoid stifling or suppressing their children's natural or extraordinary talents? Are there any examples of this?
Cha: There are all kinds of differences in children, each child has his or her own potential, parents should be good at discovering it, and cannot force their children to develop in a certain way. For children, you can easily master something by playing with it and letting him learn to follow some rules. If he is made to sit motionless and then told in an endless stream, he will not be able to grasp some things. It is characteristic of a child's development that it is not easy for him to understand abstract things, which he can do through play. Most children develop more quickly after birth, up to the age of 3, and not so quickly after that, but it is wrong to say that they do not develop. The brain still continues to develop, just in different ways. Research has shown that children learn faster before the age of 8, which is a critical time for learning. A child's physiology develops very concretely, and in the beginning, thinking starts with movement, moving while making, thinking, and then moving to figurative thinking, and then to abstract thinking. Abstraction is usually a sign of mathematical talent, which manifests itself as interest at a young age, perhaps with a better memory, and deeper mathematical ability not until later in life. Some talents can be seen in children, like musical talents, which show up as the child being sensitive to music. Some talents can't be seen until the child is older.
Feng: Can you give some counter examples?
Cha: Some parents are so busy with their work that they neglect to discover their children's talents, and some of them are buried. Children need parents' encouragement and help. Parents also need to see the child's weaknesses, a little bit of demand, the child development will be better. Some children are criticized by their teachers because of their poor performance in class, and if the parents then punish them, the child will be ruined. A child's evaluation of himself develops mainly on the basis of other people's impressions and evaluations of him, and other people's attitudes toward him affect his development. If teachers or parents speak inappropriately and make it difficult for him to accept, he will be unconvinced and become antagonistic, and then he will be bored with school, skip school, or even run away from home. These are all tragedies caused by improper education.
Feng: There are some children who are very smart, but the teachers and parents only require him according to the general standard, which is the so-called mass production, which is a very blow to the child, so that he will make him give up on himself. The development of children should be diversified, but there is a problem with our education, which is a potpourri, with few geniuses and individual talents. But there is also another problem, some children are very ordinary, but the parents are plucked up, how can we avoid this artificially cultivate children into prodigies?
How can I improve my (emotional intelligence, intelligence quotient, adversity quotient, wisdom)?Eating more alkaline food can improve IQ
British scientists believe that the pH of the body fluids of the human brain has a relationship with IQ.
In the body fluid acidity and alkalinity allowed range, acidic, IQ low; alkaline, IQ high. This is the same reason that the body fatigue time in the body lactic acid and urea and other acidic substances increase, the acidity of the body fluids have the same reason. Scientists observed 42 boys aged 6 to 13 years old, found that the brain in the body fluid PH value greater than 7.0 than less than 7.0 IQ twice as high. This is the first major discovery that scientists have made linking human IQ to the pH value of brain fluids. Scientists call this discovery "chemical markers" of intelligence level.
Since the pH of body fluids can be regulated by diet, scientists have made a lot of progress. The standard is the same as the one used in the United States, but it is not the same as the one used in the United States. The first step in the process is to find out how to make the best use of your body's resources. The scientists have also found that the acidity and alkalinity of body fluids can be regulated by diet. Scientists suggest that children's diets should be less fish and meat, more soy and dairy products; less oily food, more vegetables and fruits; less sweets, more seafood. This diet is beneficial to the improvement of human IQ, especially children.
Moderate Drinking Helps Improve IQ
A research institute specializing in human longevity near Tokyo, Japan, recently conducted IQ tests on 2,000 people between the ages of 40 and 79, and said that moderate drinking actually helps improve brain function. The researchers said an ingredient contained in alcoholic beverages can avoid or inhibit atherosclerosis, which is a major cause of ischemia in the brain.
The study showed that men who drank no more than 540 milliliters of Japanese rice wine or other alcoholic beverages per day had a 3.3-point higher IQ than those who never drank, and in the case of women, moderate drinkers had a 2.5-point higher IQ than those who didn't drink at all.
In an interview with New Scientist, the researchers said, "We excluded factors such as income and education from the study, but it is important to note that factors other than moderate drinking may also influence IQ, such as lifestyle or nutritional intake." In particular, the researchers noted that those who preferred Japanese rice wine generally had a higher intake of sashimi, which in large quantities can help to improve brain function, while drinkers of other alcoholic beverages generally preferred to consume more cheese, which has a similar effect on the brain as sashimi.
Dr. Jonathan Zick of the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, also supports this view, saying that other studies have demonstrated a link between moderate alcohol consumption and increased IQ, especially in patients with hardening of the arteries, and suggesting that daily consumption of a moderate amount of alcohol could be considered. Dr. Zick also points out that those who have never consumed alcohol need not start doing so, especially since excessive alcohol consumption can damage the brain instead of improving brain function.
Emotional intelligence is something that can be cultivated, but never by reading books or taking exams, but by self-assessment, by setting goals, and by moving towards them. First of all, the self-assessment is to understand their own emotional intelligence in which aspects of the lack of. Because emotional intelligence is more about how others see you, it is not something you can see clearly. I suggest that you can understand more about what others think of you and learn more from others (especially those with high EQ). In the U.S. companies have a kind of 360-degree opinion survey, the employee's supervisor, subordinates, contract for a multi-faceted investigation. Because it is anonymous, after it can often inspire more sincere statement. If many people agree on a flaw, that flaw is indeed more likely to be a serious problem. Although there is no such precisely survey in school, students can still listen to more teachers, parents, and classmates, or find ways to get anonymous advice. After discovering your flaw, you can pick the right goals to develop your emotional intelligence. For example, if you have poor interpersonal relationships, you can set a goal to make a new friend every month; if you are too reserved and shy, you can set a goal to speak once a day in class; if you have poor self-control or a bad temper, you can ask a friend to remind you to calm yourself with an agreed-upon "code" when you are about to lose your temper. You can also ask your classmates and teachers to evaluate your performance after each class or meeting. Psychologists have done research and found that the human brain can improve emotional intelligence through long-term "emotional intelligence training" exercises. But at the same time, I would like to remind you that everyone has his or her own natural style, and it is not appropriate to overly force changes. When you think you can't handle the pressure of your self-imposed "exercises", you've gone too far. Emotional intelligence is about helping you become a better version of yourself, not changing you into someone else. A couple other suggestions: (1) Understand your feelings. Practice understanding your reactions and feelings about everything you do, in furthering your understanding of why you feel the way you do. This is increasing self-awareness. (2) Self-control-Increase your ability to manage your feelings. Allow yourself to recover more quickly from anger and despondency. (3) Increase your self-confidence and motivation to challenge yourself to be disciplined and allow yourself to do harder things in response to your goals. Don't get discouraged by small setbacks. (4) Increase empathy. Being able to put your heart in the right place, being able to recognize and understand other people's feelings without them having to take a stand. Not to guess other people's motives, but just feelings. (5) Improve interpersonal relationships - When you understand other people's feelings, you will be able to improve your social and interpersonal relationships, be more popular, and be able to break into a circle and help others in the circle. (6) Communication: It is possible to utilize your hobbies. If you like to play soccer, you can join a small circle of soccer lovers. If you can not find a ready-made circle of friends, simply pay attention to meet friends with *** with hobbies to form a small circle. ***The same hobby is an excellent basis for mutual understanding and appreciation. In the beginning, you need to make yourself acceptable and popular, if you pour enough sincerity and attention to the people around you, your mind will be enriched by your deeper and deeper understanding of different people. This process of accumulating wisdom and expanding your mind will result in a chemical change in your personality.
What is my IQ?
At the beginning of the 20th century, the French psychologist Alfred Bi (1857-1911) and his students compiled the world's first set of IQ scales, according to which the average IQ of the general population was set at 100, and the IQ of normal people, according to this set of tests, was mostly between 85 and 115. IQ is mainly hereditary, but human intelligence is certainly not static, it develops with maturity of age and changes due to education and training [1]. Due to a variety of inborn factors, a person's intellectual development can vary. The level of intellectual development of a person at his or her age is measured through a series of standardized tests, which must be used in conjunction with the Spiritual Quotient (SQ) to be effective. It is the ability of people to recognize objective things and apply knowledge to solve practical problems. Intelligence manifests itself in a number of ways, such as observation, memory, imagination, creativity, analytical judgment, thinking, adaptability, reasoning, etc., and it includes the Cultural Quotient (CQ). Currently, intelligence is considered to be composed of three abilities: short-term memory, reasoning ability and language ability.
Later, Prof. Terman introduced this scale to the United States and revised it as the Stanford-Binet Intelligence Scale, and used the ratio of mental age to physical age as the index for assessing the level of intelligence of children, and this ratio is called the intelligence quotient (IQ), which is expressed by the formula: IQ=MA (mental age)/CA (physical age) × 100. people call this IQ the ratio of intelligence quotient (RIQ).
What is the highest IQWilliam Alfred Quannigton IQ=350+
This man is an enigma, said to be an English student at Cambridge, with an IQ of nearly 400. He uttered his first word, aluminum, 5 months after birth. He knew how to speak and read and write by the time he was 1 year old. Taught himself algebra and geometry at age 2 1/2. At age 4, she enrolled in high school after taking a college calculus course on her own, and received all A+ grades.
Marilyn von Savant IQ=228
The smartest woman in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records, she has an IQ of 228, which makes her one of the smartest people in the world.
The highest recognized IQ in the world is Albert Einstein. His IQ is said to be 278.
140+ Genius or near-genius
120-140 Superior intellect
110-120 Higher intellect
90-110 Ordinary intellect
80-90 Retarded and occasionally imbecilic
70-80 Between retarded and imbecilic (each can be categorized as imbecile)
Below 70 is determined to be low
This is calculated by multiplying the ratio of a person's mental age (mental age MA) to their chronological age (chronological age CA) by 100.
The formula is: IQ = MA/CA x 100
Suppose that a 4 year old takes an IQ test.
If a 4-year-old child takes an IQ test in which the number of questions he gets right is equal to the number of questions a 5-year-old child gets right on average, and after repeated tests, if the results show that the child's intelligence level reaches the IQ scores of an average 5-year-old child, then we will consider that child to be 5 years old in terms of his intellectual age. Since his full age is 4, his IQ is 125 after applying the formula
IQ=4/5×100=125
So, the higher the IQ of a person, the higher the intelligence level of that person is compared to that of his peers, and it also shows that he is smarter or has more knowledge than others. The level of IQ has a lot to do with a person's ability to learn and academic performance, but we infer a person's achievements in society only on the basis of IQ, which is not perfect, and even produces a great deal of bias.
IQ is a unit of quantitative intelligence, an estimate of the individual's intellectual level of quantitative his. There are two main ways of assessing the level of IQ.
One is the empirical assessment method. According to the test will be in the population of each person's intelligence is divided into the upper wisdom, the lower fool, the middle man, genius, hazy (moron), stupid, ***.
The second is the normal curve assessment method. According to the normal step-by-step curve with 100 as the standard and 15 as the standard deviation, the intelligence of the population is categorized into the following categories, as shown in the table below.
The above introduction is only one method of evaluating intelligence, but the accuracy of this method can only be used as an evaluation study of intellectual development and specialized tests IQ, and can not be completely used as an indicator for evaluating the future development prospects of a particular child. The reason is that intelligence is a comprehensive concept and involves many uncontrollable elements; in addition, intelligence is constantly changing with age, and is related to the social environment, practice, and the degree of one's own efforts when the child goes to school and grows up to become an adult in society. It is important to recognize the limitations of this type of evaluation, which can only be used as a comparison and reference for assessing the developmental level of children of the same age, so that we can find the gap and summarize the lessons learned in the process of cultivation, and should not be used as a basis for evaluating the child's future development.
In addition, the IQ evaluation formula is only used for professional research, and it is not appropriate to over-apply the test in the process of cultivating children's intelligence. The reason is that if the results of the test are assessed as high IQ, the parents are likely to relax the training and produce blind satisfaction, which will become the beginning of the intellectual development of the beginning of the regression, the children themselves will be informed of their own high IQ and prematurely produce a sense of superiority, which will have a negative impact on the continued development of intelligence. On the contrary, if the test result is assessed as poor or average IQ, the parents will easily become pessimistic and lack confidence in the child, and the child will also develop a sense of inferiority or even give up on himself/herself as a result. Therefore, in terms of the development of intelligence, no matter what the results of the test should not be directly told to the child, otherwise, it may not be conducive to the future development of intelligence.
