The Harvest Festival, a traditional agricultural ritual of the Russians in Xinjiang and other parts of the country, is held on the second Sunday of October in the Gregorian calendar. At the end of the harvest, people purposely leave the last sheaf of wheat in the field, remove the weeds around it, and make offerings of bread, salt and milk, to show their gratitude for the gifts of the earth and pray for a bigger harvest in the coming year.
