There are several identification methods:
Look at the appearance
The skin is particularly smooth, bright, obviously reflective, and the color is very beautiful. Maybe it was waxed. On the contrary, apples with a plain and less shiny appearance may be unwaxed. This is easy to see. For example, in the picture below of two apples, the first picture is a waxed apple, and the second picture is an unwaxed apple.

Picture 2: Unwaxed apple
Soaking method
The melting point of artificial wax is very low. Therefore, it can be identified by soaking it in hot water. If it is a waxed apple, a thin film will appear on the surface of the water.
Look at the attributes
One of the purposes of fruit waxing is to prevent water loss, retain the fruity aroma, and also prevent the invasion of effective organisms, including microorganisms. The storage time and transportation distance of seasonal fruits and locally produced fruits are not that long, so the necessity of waxing is not high. In addition, waxing also has the effect of making it look good, usually for high-end fruits. Therefore, through the three attributes of origin, whether it is in season and whether it is high-end, we can roughly judge whether the probability of fruit waxing is high.
Wipe with a paper towel
After wiping, if the same color as the peel is left on the paper towel, it is recommended not to eat it. This product is likely to have added pigments and may use industrial wax, which may contain high levels of heavy metals.
