Rehe is now the junction of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Hebei Province and Liaoning Province. It includes the Chengde area of what is now Hebei Province, the Chifeng area and part of Tongliao in Inner Mongolia, and the Chaoyang, Fuxin, and Huludao Jianchang County areas of Liaoning.

The name "Hot River" comes from the hot springs in the Chengde Summer Resort, where the hot spring water flows into the Wulie River, and the downstream part of the Wulie River in the city of Chengde does not freeze and steams up in the cold climate of the local winter, so it is called the "Hot" River.

The central and western part of the Jehol is part of the Mongolian Plateau, and the eastern part is a flat and broad plateau, the province is mainly Liaohe River Basin, dominated by the West Liaohe River, and the Luanhe River in the south, southeast of the Daling River, Xiaoling River. The tableland and river valley hills are intricate. 1955 abolished the Jehol province. The original Jehol province belongs to the city of Chengde and Chengde, Pingquan, Qinglong, Xinglong, Luanping, Fengning, Longhua, Weichang and other 8 counties to Hebei province.
