Distribution: Northeastern Mexico to the southeastern United States.
Life habits: Not afraid of the cold. It can hibernate naturally when the water temperature is above 0℃, it can hibernate when the water temperature is about 15℃, it can hunt prey when the water temperature is 20℃, and it is suitable to live in water of 25℃.
Food habits: In nature, it eats shellfish, crustaceans, fish and algae. Under artificial breeding conditions, they like to eat lean meat, fish and vegetable leaves.

Reproduction habits: The breeding season is from May to July every year, and 1-9 eggs are laid each time. The egg has a long diameter of 33 to 43 mm and a short diameter of 22 to 33 mm.
