After seeing Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms, I had a beautiful yearning for Linzhi, so I started searching online for everything about Linzhi, the beautiful scenery here, the cultural landscape here, and the differences here. When I finally decided to go there, I was still a little uneasy. Maybe it’s because the pictures online are so beautiful, I’m inevitably worried that I’ll be disappointed when I see the real thing. Maybe I missed the peach blossom season, so I couldn't see the beautiful scenery in the play.
West: Direction to Lhasa
Mira Pass
For most tourists whose first stop in Tibet is Lhasa, the altitude gradually increases from Lhasa to the east. After about 150 kilometers, we reach Mira Pass with an altitude of 5013 meters. Mila Pass is a resting point on the road from Lhasa to Nyingchi, with a wide view and excellent scenery. Mira Mountain is one of the holy mountains in the eyes of Tibetans. Long colorful prayer flags hang at the mountain pass, swaying in the wind under the blue sky and hundreds of clouds. When you stop to rest, you will find a large stone with the words "Mira Pass altitude 5013 meters" and three bronze yak statues. Don’t climb on the yak statue when taking photos.
If you want to use the toilet, there is a simple squat toilet at Mila Pass, which costs 3 yuan/time. If you encounter a Tibetan selling prayer flags, there is no need to politely refuse.

Basongcuo
Songcuo is a famous red religious holy lake in Tibetan Buddhism. It is located in the canyon near Bahe Town, Gongbo Jiangda County, Nyingchi Prefecture middle. If you drive from Lhasa to Basongcuo, it takes about 7-8 hours. Even if you leave early, you will arrive here in the afternoon, and the time for sightseeing is quite limited. It is recommended that you leave Lhasa in the morning, stay one night in Nyingchi, and return to Basongtso and Kadinggou the next day. If you really don’t want to make a return visit, you can consider staying in Gongbu Jiangda County for one night and continue Basong Cuo the next day.
Songcuo Xingchi Street Observation Deck
There is a touch of blue in the green lake of Songcuo. Against the background of the green mountains of the plateau, the beautiful scenery is very different from that of Yangzhuoyongcuo, just like a "little Switzerland". The tour bus stops at three places: the first is Huxin Island, where there is a Cuozong Gongba Temple; the second is the observation deck, with a good view, where you can take pictures of postcard-level scenery. The third one is Stuttering Village, a quiet Tibetan village with few tourists.
Tickets: 120 yuan in peak season (May-October), 60 yuan in off-season (November-April), 50 yuan for sightseeing car, one attraction. Sightseeing tickets must be purchased together.
Transportation: It is recommended to travel by car from Lhasa or charter a car from Bayi Town, Nyingchi. You can take a shuttle bus from Linzhi Bus Station to Gongbu Jiangda County, get off at Bahe Town on the way, and then find a local Tibetan private car to Basongcuo. There is a lot of uncertainty in your transportation.
Dinggou
Dinggou
Not far from Linzhi, in the same direction as Basongcuo, you can share a car with Basongcuo. Similarly, if you come from Lhasa, it will take you until the afternoon to leave here in the morning, so it is not recommended to visit on the day of departure. It is more appropriate to stay one night in Bayi Town, Linzhi, and charter a car for a full-day visit the next morning.
Kadinggou, also known as Kadingtianfo Waterfall Forest Scenic Area, is not big inside and can be visited within an hour. The scenic area is dominated by granite canyon scenery, and the biggest attraction is the Tianfo Waterfall, which is more than 200 meters high. The water mist from the waterfall falls and bounces up, penetrating into the green plants below. On the rock wall of the waterfall, there are naturally formed Buddha statues, as well as naturally formed abstract Buddhist landscapes such as lamas chanting sutras, turtles calling to the sky, and butter lamps.
Ticket: 20 yuan
Transportation: It is recommended to join a tour group from Lhasa or Linzhi, or charter a bus from Linzhi to Basongcuo.

Lulang Forest
Although Langlinhai is a scenic spot, there are few human factors and it still maintains the original appearance of the plateau mountain meadow. Linhai is about 15 kilometers long and 1 kilometer wide on average. The trees near the sea mainly consist of spruce and pine. The meandering stream passes through the meadow under the forest sea, and the snow-capped mountains and countryside in the distance form a fresh and peaceful paradise on earth.
Driving on National Highway 318, you can see some Lulang Ranch (Lulang Linhai). There are several viewing platforms along the way, overlooking the magnificent forest meadows. If you don’t want to pay, you can also park on other roadsides along the way to watch. You can also see a very good view. Compared with the observation deck, it is more recommended to enter the Lulang Forest Sea Scenic Area. The "Oriental Switzerland" scenery of green hills, pastures and stream fences is a must-see in Linzhi!
Tickets: 30 yuan for the observation deck and 170 yuan for the scenic spot.
Transportation: You can take the shuttle bus to Bomi County at Linzhi Bayi Town Bus Station and get off at the entrance of the scenic spot.

Benri Sacred Mountain Tourist Area-Niyang River Scenic Belt
Benri Sacred Mountain and Yangni River Scenic Belt are both located in the south of Linzhi Town. On the way to Mirui Township, the Yangni River Scenic Belt is in the Benri Holy Mountain Tourist Area, surrounded by a huge Benri Holy Mountain.
The Yangni River, Linzhi’s mother river, is left by an iceberg with an altitude of more than 5,000 meters. The Yangni River scenic belt starts from Daze Village in Linzhi County and ends at Demu Temple in Mirui Township. It is the only way to and from the Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Canyon. Not only are the scenery along the Mirui Highway beautiful, there are also wonderful attractions such as Daze Temple, Benzhi Shenquan, the intersection of two rivers (Yangni and Brahmaputra), Moody Cliff Carvings, and Demu Temple. If you have enough time, you can experience rafting on the Yangni River.
When you come to Mirui Township, you are actually at the foot of Benzhi Mountain. Benshen Mountain is an important mountain worshiped by Benbo believers. Most of the villagers at the foot of the mountain are Bon believers. In order to eliminate sin obstacles and various diseases, believers will go to the mountain regularly. The direction of turning mountains in Bon religion is counterclockwise in comparison with that in general Huang religion. There is also a Demu Temple near Mirui Township, where you can experience Bon religion.

Transportation: The shuttle bus from Bayi Town Passenger Station to Pai Town Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Canyon will pass here.

The Midui Glacier Ticket Office is located on the edge of National Highway 318, about 330 kilometers away from Bayi Town, Nyingchi. To reach the glacier, you have to go to Midui Village at the foot of the mountain. The ticket office is 6.5 kilometers away from Midui Village, and the road conditions are not very good. From Midui Village, continue south for 2.5 kilometers to reach the Glacier Observation Deck. When you come to the place where Midui Village is located, you can see the vast landscape where glaciers, lakes, farmland, villages and forests meet. Due to the long distance, there are very few group tours to Midui Glacier from Lhasa or Nyingchi. How to get to Linzhi
Fly to Linzhi.
Lingchi Milin Airport is located in Milin County, 50 kilometers south of Bayi Town, Linzhi. There are not many flights coming and going every day. If you want to fly, the most convenient way is from Chengdu. There are 2-3 flights per day, and other cities basically have 1 flight per day or 2 days. The main routes from Milin Airport are as follows:
Take a bus to Nyingchi.
Located in Bayi Town, Linzhi Passenger Transport Center is the transportation hub of Linzhi area. You can take a bus from Lhasa Eastern Suburb Bus Terminal to Nyingchi. The ticket price is about 100 yuan, and the price of commercial vehicles and off-road vehicles is about 150 yuan/person.
The Linzhi Passenger Transport Center also has many shuttle buses to surrounding counties, such as Milin County, Lang County, Bomi County, Paixiang, and Chayu.
Go to Linzhi with a group.
The most worry-free way to visit Linzhi is with a group tour. If the tour departs from cities outside Tibet, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Linzhi, it is usually only a small part of the itinerary, and will also be connected with Lhasa and surrounding attractions (such as Namtso, Yanghu, etc.). ), it will take longer and cost more. It is recommended that you fly to Lhasa first and join the tour from Lhasa.
The 3-day and 2-night trip to Nyingchi starting from Lhasa costs around 800-1,500 yuan, and generally includes popular attractions such as Basongcuo, Kadinggou, Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon, and Lulang Forest Sea. The price difference depends on the attractions, accommodation and other conditions. A group tour of 4 days and 3 nights costs about 1,500 yuan. If you go to Linzhi by yourself, it is more recommended to rent a car/charter a car. You can visit as many beautiful places as possible, and your itinerary is more flexible.
Lingzhi car rental/charter.
Most of the scenic spots in Linzhi are far away from Bayi Town, and public transportation is not very convenient. If you don’t want to join a group, renting a car or chartering a car are good options. The time is flexible and you can stop and take photos at any time along the way. The charter fee is determined by the car type and attractions. Generally, the price of an off-road vehicle with 4 people is 4-5 yuan/km, and the price of a commercial vehicle with 6-9 people is about the same. There are also some cars that charge on a daily basis, such as 1,000 yuan/day, which can seat 4 people, and 250 yuan/day for ordinary people. Generally, there are fuel costs for chartered cars and tolls for crossing bridges. The driver's accommodation is generally the responsibility of the passengers, and you can negotiate with the driver. If you stay at a hotel recommended by the driver, you may not have to bear the driver’s accommodation fee. If you book a hotel by yourself, you can ask the hotel if there is a free room for the driver. Generally speaking, if the driver has a meal together, it can be discussed in advance.
When is the best time to travel?
The tourist season in Nyingchi is mainly about natural scenery, so seasonal factors are particularly important to the quality of the tour. The best time for sightseeing is March-April and September-October.
Mid-to-late March to early April
The spring of March is one of the peak tourist seasons in Nyingchi. The famous Linzhi Peach Blossom Festival is held in mid-to-late March every year. The most famous place for viewing peach blossoms is the Peach Blossom Village in Nouo, but peach blossoms can also be seen in many other places.
May to early June
At this time, the rainy season has not yet officially arrived, and it is the season when rapeseed and azaleas are in full bloom. You can see more rape flowers in the fields in the mountains, and you can also see azaleas in the mountains through Sejila Mountain. There is also the Linzhi Yellow Peony Festival in early June, which can be seen in Zagonggou and Nanyigou.
Mid-June to August
Generally speaking, June to August is the rainy season in Nyingchi. The rainfall is the largest throughout the year and the climate is relatively humid. National Highway 318 is prone to natural disasters. During this period, Linzhi is still a green world, but with too much rain, the Yangni River will become turbid and rapid, making it more difficult to see the full view of Namjagbarwa Peak. Except for Yangni and the Brahmaputra Grand Canyon, other scenic spots without river views, such as Lulang Forest Sea and Nanyigou, still maintain the most vivid green.
September-October
This season is the peak tourist season in Linzhi. There is less rain and the probability of seeing Namjagbarwa Peak is high. But at the same time, as autumn gradually enters Linzhi, Linhai Ranch slowly loses its green coat. At this time, visiting the Yarlung Zangbo River Grand Canyon and Yangni River Scenic Area has a unique charm.
November to February of the following year
This season is the off-season for tourism in Nyingchi, and there are fewer tourists in the snow-covered Nyingchi.
