Wenzhou oil winter vegetables can be planted in the first half of the year.
Cultivation technology of this vegetable
This vegetable has a short growth cycle. Generally, it can be harvested by the plant in about 20 to 30 days after planting. Sowing is carried out in autumn and winter from September to October, and in the south it can be sown until December. Sow in batches from February to early April in spring, and sow in batches from May to September in summer.
1. Soil preparation and fertilization
This vegetable has strong adaptability to soil and grows better in soil with fertile soil and strong water and fertilizer retention. When preparing the land, it can be made into a flat border with a width of 1 to 1.5 meters. There is a lot of rain in summer and autumn, so planting should be done on high borders with flat borders. Base fertilizer should be used and mixed evenly with the soil. When the soil is acidic, lime should be added during soil preparation.
2. Sowing
This vegetable can be planted by broadcasting, drill sowing and seedling transplanting. Broadcasting requires more seeds than drill sowing. Generally, the broadcasting method is used when planting in summer and autumn. In winter and spring and when planting in greenhouses, seedlings should be raised first and then transplanted. Before sowing, soak the seeds in warm water for 12 hours, then germinate at 15 to 20°C, and wait until more than half of the seeds have germinated before sowing. Water before sowing, spread the seeds after the border surface is moist, and cover with 1 cm of soil.
3. Field management
①Management during the seedling period
Keep the soil moist after the seedlings emerge. Places with dense seedlings need to be thinned twice. Carry out the first thinning when 2 true leaves appear. The distance between seedlings should be two centimeters. Weak and diseased seedlings should be removed. Carry out the second thinning when 3 to 4 true leaves have grown, and the distance between seedlings should be five to six centimeters. After each thinning, water the seedlings. The vegetable should be transplanted when it has five or six leaves, and the distance between plants should be 10 to 15 centimeters. After the vegetable is planted, water should be poured to promote slow seedling growth.
②Water and fertilizer management
This vegetable can be harvested during the vegetative growth period and requires more nitrogen and less phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. For plots with sufficient base fertilizer, after the vegetable enters the vigorous growth period, a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer should be applied, and 10 to 15 pounds of urea can be used per acre. Apply enough phosphorus and potassium fertilizer in the base fertilizer, and later spray potassium dihydrogen phosphate and amino acid foliar fertilizer on the leaves.
This vegetable requires little water during the seedling stage, so the soil should be kept dry and moist. During the vigorous growth period, water every 3 to 4 days. When planting in winter, the frequency of watering should be reduced to prevent the soil temperature from lowering after watering and affecting root growth.
