Patties are a specialty of places such as Sichuan, Hubei and Anhui provinces.

Patties are found in Guizhou, Chongqing, Sichuan, Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian, Hubei, Guangxi, Shaanxi and other provinces and cities in China. It is also most prevalent in Jiujiang, Jiangxi and Wuyishan areas of Fujian, with the practice in Wuzhou, Guangxi being the most special. It is also found in the southern part of Anhui Province, mainly during the Chongyang Festival, as festival food for guests to savor.

Only the mochi varies from region to region due to customary and geographical differences. In the south, patties are usually made in the month of Lunar New Year as a New Year's celebration food. Regional Characteristics of Mochi Patties
