Frost's Descent is one of the twenty-four solar terms. Below are the meanings and proverbs of Frost's Descent that I have compiled. I hope it will be helpful to everyone!
The meaning of frost
Frost is the last solar term in autumn and the transitional solar term from autumn to winter. In late autumn, the ground dissipates a lot of heat, and the temperature suddenly drops below 0 degrees. The water vapor in the air condenses directly on the ground or plants to form tiny ice needles, and some become hexagonal frost flowers, which are white in color and loose in structure. Frost can only form on sunny days. This is why people say that "thick frost fiercely beats the sun."
The frost solar term means that the weather is getting colder and frost is beginning to fall. The average temperature in northern Northeast China, eastern Inner Mongolia, and most of northwest China has been below 0°C, the soil has frozen, and winter crops have stopped growing and entered the overwintering period. In southern areas with latitudes more southerly, the average temperature is around 16°C, and there are still two to three solar terms before the first frost date. In the river valleys of southern South China, frost can only be seen in the middle of winter. Of course, even in places with the same latitude, due to differences in altitude and terrain, the temperature and humidity of the air close to the ground are different, and the first frost period and number of frost days are also different.
