The correct way to dry figs is as follows:
Materials/Tools: figs, water, bowl, knife, steaming plate.
1. Choose ripe figs. When selecting figs, look for fruits with smooth, undamaged skin and bright colors. Make sure the figs are moderately ripe, as overripe or immature figs will affect the taste and quality when dried.
2. Clean the figs. Put the selected figs into clean water and scrub gently to remove surface dirt and impurities. No need to use detergent or soap to avoid residue that affects the taste.
3. Cut the figs. Cut the washed figs in half or quarters, which will help the pulp dry faster. If the figs are small, you can directly dry the whole fruit.
4. Hang to dry. Place the cut figs in the steamer tray, making sure there is enough space between the figs to allow air circulation. You can choose to dry the figs outdoors or in a well-ventilated area to ensure that the figs are not corroded by rain or moisture.
5. Turn over regularly. The process of sun-drying figs takes a certain amount of time. In order to dry the pulp evenly, the figs must be turned once a day to ensure that all parts are fully exposed to the sun. They can be eaten after they are completely dried.
