Ginkgo kernels are slightly oval, with one end slightly sharp and the other blunt, 1.5~2.5cm long, 1 ~ 2cm wide and 1cm thick. The surface is yellowish white or light brownish yellow, smooth, with 2 ~ 3 ridges. The mesocarp (shell) is bony and hard. The inner seed coat is membranous, the kernel is wide ovoid or oval, one end is light brown, the other end is golden yellow, the outer layer of the cross section is yellow and gelatinous, and the inner layer is light yellow or light green, powdery, with a gap in the middle. Odorless, sweet and slightly bitter.
