Campus Symbol--Confucius StatuePresident Tang Enjia of Hong Kong Confucian Academy presented a statue of Confucius to Qingyuan Vocational and Technical College

April 28, 2007, which is 2558 years after the birth of Confucius, the statue of Confucius donated by Hong Kong Confucian Academy brought a humanistic atmosphere to the campus of the college during a series of activities of the 5th anniversary of the founding of the Qingyuan Vocational and Technical College. The statue of Confucius donated by Hong Kong Confucius Institute brought a strong humanistic flavor to the campus of the college.

The unveiling ceremony of the Confucius statue began at 8:40 p.m., with Huang Satellite, secretary of the Party committee of the college, presiding over the ceremony. Participants in the ceremony included not only the teachers and students of the college, but also party and government leaders of Qingyuan City, Chen Yuzhi, secretary of the municipal party committee, Chen Jiaji, mayor of the city, as well as reporters from the local news media. The ceremony began with an enthusiastic speech by President Zhao Pengfei of Qingyuan Vocational and Technical College, who praised Confucius for his monumental ideas as a great educator and for his great influence spanning more than 2,500 years. Then President Tang Enjia of the Hong Kong Institute of Confucianism, dressed in traditional Chinese costume, gave a short speech, explaining the significance of reviving Confucianism to save the morality of society and to realize peace for mankind.

The statue of Confucius was unveiled with a round of applause by Mr. Shen Ziqiang, an expert in etiquette from the Pinghe Academy, who was invited to officiate the ceremony, together with other guests*** such as Mr. Chen Yuchi, the secretary of the government, Mr. Chen Jiaji, the mayor of the city, and Mr. Zhao Pengfei, the dean of the Confucius Institute. After the unveiling, the teacher of the academy in Chinese dress solemnly read the confession and presided over the salute; under the leadership of President Hong Xiuping of Pinghe Academy, the party and government leaders of Qingyuan City and more than 1,000 teachers and students of the Institute of Technology, together with classical etiquettes, performed the salute of three bowing to the holy statue of Confucius. The ceremony ended in a grand and elegant atmosphere.

This bronze statue of Confucius in Qingyuan Vocational and Technical College was donated by the president of Hong Kong Confucius Institute, Mr. Tang Enjia, and Mr. Zhang Hua***, a Confucian businessman who loves traditional culture, together. The statue of Confucius will be gradually integrated into the campus culture of Qingyuan Vocational College and become the symbol of the campus culture of Qingyuan Vocational College in the long educational journey of the college.
