My thoughts after reading "True Original Medicine"

This is an easy-to-read and practical book about holistic health medicine of body and mind, written by Mr. Yang Dingyi, a doctor of biochemistry and medicine at Cornell Medical College of Rockefeller University in the United States. Thanks to the recommendation of Teacher Bao, who has read more than ten thousand volumes, I had the chance to read this book. Now that I have re-read it for the second time, I have the idea of ??writing it down.

? Mr. Pan Zongguang, the former president of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, described it this way: "Yang Dingyi is a doctor and a scientist. Based on his personal accomplishment, he integrated Chinese and Western medicine, science, religion, and culture to write "True Original Medicine" ", this is one of my favorite books and the source of inspiration for my recent speech. I am now reading it for the third time. I hope you like it too. "

A sentence from Dr. Yang's preface, points out the core of the book. That is, "Only through a complete change of mind can health and well-being be restored! Only with a new mind, physical practice, and a balanced lifestyle can health be restored. ... Health is the result of inner change. Health must be actively pursued and cannot be achieved Passively acquired. Health is a comprehensive indicator that explains our daily life and way of thinking, not just lifeless experimental data to prove the state. Health is not only a physical appearance but also a mental state. The two are actually one. But they also affect each other. The health of the environment and surrounding things also affects personal health, and personal health is also related to the health of the earth and society as a whole. People who are physically and mentally healthy will naturally help. Restore the health of the environment and surrounding things. "

I do not deny Western medicine, but I feel the need to embrace all fields of medicine, both ancient and modern, both at home and abroad. I take an integrative approach and hope to see the person as a whole, rather than broken down into individual organs and systems. As patients, no one wants to see the body broken down into its various organs. Therefore, what we need is holistic treatment, including body, mind and spirit.

? Comprehensive medicine combines all the medical miracles in the world. It has no boundaries and must be inclusive and non-partisan. So, to me, there is no such thing as traditional, non-traditional, Eastern, Western, or so-called Tantric medicine, only medicine that actually works. Doctors are also scientists and must be open to various approaches to health.

The following are some key points and wise comments:

1. Preventive medicine in the 21st century is the key to health:

The review agrees that this is consistent with the "Huangdi Neijing" The concept of treating the disease before it is fully consistent.

2. A new trend is forming, and people are beginning to hope to achieve health with the help of their own defense system and healing mechanism.

People gradually agree that for the body, having enough natural substances, such as vitamins, amino acids, trace elements, fatty acids, etc., will create the best environment to support the normal function of cells, and using natural substances To prevent and treat diseases is the best treatment.

To comment on this point, as long as you read another article by Wei Ming, "Diseases Come from Cold", you will understand the natural therapy of Dr. Yuki Ishihara of Japan. I am afraid it is the best confirmation of the above point of view. It seems that It’s really different paths leading to the same destination!

3. From inner health to outer health.

Open your mind to understand every technology and every treatment. As long as the client can recover, be completely healthy from the inside out, and restore balance to the body and mind, it is the best treatment. Health cannot be maintained by taking pills or certain nutrients alone. The patient himself must be proactive, exercise moderately, change his mentality, and take in correct nutrition, etc., in order to uproot the disease. Health is everyone's responsibility, and only you can be responsible for your own health.

Only with an open and inclusive attitude can we find physical therapy methods that suit human characteristics. Chinese medicine does not treat those who do not believe in it. On the surface, "faith" seems to be directed at others or external theories, but in essence, it is actually trust in oneself, not therapy or doctors.

I have met some patients who clearly know that the existing methods cannot cure the disease and are unwilling to try traditional treatment methods, thereby missing the opportunity to save their lives; or they wait and wait for various reasons such as work, career, business, etc. It is a pity that the condition suddenly deteriorates due to procrastination!

4. The integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine is the future trend.

The "physique" that everyone thought was mysterious in the past can now be confirmed using the most advanced Western medicine testing technology! Zerzin, a professor who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine, once said: "All the energy in the human body comes from the sun's rays." Sunshine = gt; plants = gt; animals = gt; people, and some people directly receive sunlight, which increases oxygen absorption, reduces heart rate, accelerates skin metabolism, regulates human immune function, and even improves muscle energy. The sun's full spectrum light source has germicidal properties. Sunbathing promotes calcium absorption. Sunlight directly affects human mental and emotional health. Natural sunlight is an important element in promoting human physical and mental health, and it is a precious and most convenient health resource given by God to all living things. Modern people who want to pursue health should seize more opportunities to be in contact with natural sunlight and engage in more outdoor activities. It is best to receive 1-2 hours of natural sunlight every day, which will be of great help to both emotional and physical health.

A Chinese medicine teacher said that his concept is to use Western medicine instruments and data to further confirm or refer to the results obtained by Chinese medicine through observation, hearing, asking and feeling, and treatment is still based on traditional Chinese medicine.

5. Three treasures of air: ozone, negative ions, and phytoncidin

Forests are rich in these clean elements, which can make the air fresh and charming. There are 2-5 times more toxic chemicals in indoor air than outdoors. Going more to nature and outdoors is a cleansing of the body and mind.

Crops grown in unbalanced soil lack biological activity, and human body, mind, and spirit will also be out of balance. Organic farming requires good sunlight, air, water, and farmers’ gratitude and compassion when farming. Only the fruits, vegetables and grains produced can bring enough nutrition and energy to the eaters.

Unbalanced substances cannot nourish life. Only when the earth is healthy can our lives continue and be healthy.

If human beings do not realize that they are one with all things, they will not be able to maintain personal health.

Comments Isn’t this the embodiment of the idea of ??harmony between man and nature? The relationship between nature and people is still like this. If crop growers use excessive amounts of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in order to increase yields, they will eventually enter a disgusting cycle that harms them and themselves. Food processors and producers should also have a conscience, otherwise if they are harmed today, they will be harmed again tomorrow. Nowadays, there are more and more strange diseases. Isn’t it the result of this mutual harm model?

6. Living food and active enzymes:

Living food is the healthiest and most healing tool, so what is living food? It is food full of active enzymes.

Frying and frying will completely lose the natural enzymes contained in the food, so Dr. Norman Walker spares no effort to promote organic diet and vegetable juice health.

Fermented foods are rich in enzymes and are easier to digest than other foods even if heated, such as Japanese natto and miso soup. There are also cereals, beans, nuts and seeds that are rich in enzymes and other nutrients, and also contain enzyme inhibitors. The clever way the ancients weakened the inhibitors was to grow the seeds into sprouts and ferment pickles so that the nutrients could be easily absorbed.

There are more than 5,000 enzymes found in the human body. Our breathing, thoughts, and actions all require the participation of enzymes. I can think of enzymes as a bridge between the living and the inanimate, converting simple organic matter into expressions of life.

The easy-to-understand knowledge excerpted in this review brings scientific guidance to our health and health.

7. Phytochemicals in fruits and vegetables:

Phytochemicals are also called phytochemicals or plant compounds, which refer to some compounds naturally present in plants. It was originally intended to function as self-defense. But the latest discovery is that these phytochemicals can help humans improve physiological functions or prevent or improve specific diseases.

For example: Apples have excellent antioxidant capacity, which confirms the ancient saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away."

8. Diet and health:

Roman writer and naturalist Pliny:

"Most people work hard to fill their bellies, but they don't know that this will make them suffer." (P50)

"An overly sumptuous dinner Excitement often leads to insomnia and laziness in the morning. On the contrary, a light and small dinner or no dinner at all can bring about a peaceful and deep sleep. ”

This is indeed true! I have been skipping dinner and minimizing social activities for more than three years. My weight changes are usually within /-1.5 kg, and all indicators are normal, and I am even gradually changing to a younger state.

9. The digestive system is the key to health:

All dietary therapies from ancient times to the present emphasize the need to eat slowly and in small bites.

If you can adhere to the principle of not eating too much and follow the simple principles of taking small bites and chewing slowly, your body will naturally function as it should. (P69)

Sir Ryan, the royal surgeon of the British King and the number one expert in treating intestinal diseases: The end of the intestine should be emptied every 6 hours, but the average person’s feces often stays for 24 hours. Above, the result is ulcers and cancer. (P77)

Any therapy must be carefully evaluated. I believe that the simpler the therapy, the better. Simple therapy is not only safe, but can also cure the cause of the disease and provide better long-term conditioning. For example, spiral-shaped twisting movements or stretching movements (see appendix), although the movements are simple, have a mechanism adjustment effect that cannot be achieved by general linear movements. As long as you continue to do it every day, you will definitely feel the difference!

This comment is consistent with the concept established by my own practice.

Principle 1: "Repeat simple actions."

Principle 2: The "Single Eight and Double Eight Tai Chi Stretching Exercises" we promote in the Health Zen Club is a twisting and stretching exercise in a spiral shape. 10 minutes of long-term stretching every day is effective for the 12 main meridians, the Ren and Du meridians, as well as other meridians and small collaterals. Diseases of the spine and even general discomfort of the internal organs can be effectively maintained and regulated.

Dr. Yang also advocates cross-legged posture, whether single or double cross-legged, which is the best tool for everyone to adjust their body and mind. (P84)

10. Cultivation of body and mind:

The first step in cultivating the mind is to be "grateful". Every breath and every movement is filled with us. Gratitude to every cell in the body."

"When we are grateful and willing to help others and give back to society, the "qi" in our body is the "righteousness" that resonates with heaven and earth. At this time, life attitude and life value will undergo incredible changes, which is the beginning of self-healing of body, mind and soul.

Comment on how similar this point is to what Mencius said: "I am good at cultivating my awe-inspiring spirit" and Zhuangzi's "alone communicating with the spirit of heaven and earth". Therefore, ancient and modern times are the same.

11. Taoist meditation, Buddhist visualization, Indian yoga, Greek soft exercise, etc. all emphasize the use of correct breathing to achieve health and immortality.

When commenting on this point, Dr. Yang has touched on it, and his talk is relatively superficial. It is recommended that everyone refer to Teacher Li Shaobo’s "Qi Movement Method" and Mr. Li Jinbo's "Between Breaths" to have a more thorough explanation of the relationship and principles between breathing and physical and mental health.

12. Complete Healing

Harmonious quantum resonance. According to quantum mechanics, nothing is fixed or certain. Its existence, that is, the result of observation depends on observer. The ancients knew long ago that humans must exist in harmony with nature. Many of today's diseases of civilization, including high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, fibromyalgia, depression, cancer, and many other chronic diseases, are caused by the destruction of quantum resonance. Therefore, it is not possible to restore health by pharmacotherapists alone, but must actively recall the resonant state of being. Some doctors today also agree that no treatment can get to the root of the disease unless the mind, body, and spirit are in harmony.

Complete inner transformation is the most fundamental core of "True Original Medicine".

"Modern people's dietary imbalances are mostly caused by excess rather than deficiency" {P119}

Comments Therefore, Dr. Yang also advocates trying fasting (light fasting) and meditation to adjust stress and gain autonomy. Nervous system disorders, endocrine system disorders, etc., 30 pages are also dedicated to introducing the results of modern scientific research to confirm the principles and benefits of meditation and teach meditation methods. It even mentioned some Buddhist breathing methods, their effectiveness in healing the body and mind, and the importance of unblocking the "central channel", the energy channel of the human body.

[Compassion] will construct a unique harmonious field, which will be transmitted layer by layer to all cells in the body, all levels of consciousness and subtle bodies. Compassion is the fundamental force that connects all things, large and small, in the universe.

Live in a state of being one with all things, making no distinction between all things, but experiencing all emotions and feelings as they really are, completely and profoundly, without making any arbitrary distinctions between good and evil, neither welcoming nor rejecting, knowing and acting immediately , accept life as it is, in all its colors, forms, and ups and downs, and accept it unconditionally. Through unconditional acceptance, all negative emotional reactions can be transformed into positive emotions of gratitude, care, compassion and consideration.

Comments: This is the true way of healing to find the ultimate healing of body, mind and spirit.

At the end of the book, seven spiral stretching exercises are introduced with pictures. I hope that reading this short article can inspire and help you with your health, wellness, and practice.
