Located in Xiangshan Park in the western suburbs of Beijing, it was built at 1982 and designed by the famous American architect I.M. Pei. The building absorbs the characteristics of China garden architecture, and handles the axis, spatial sequence and garden in an orderly way, with a slight lightness. The whole building is built on the mountain, with a patchwork and twists and turns, and the courtyards meet. The building itself is painted white in a large area with distinctive features. The facade of the building is castle-like, with regular windows and holes. The courtyard-style architectural layout of Xiangshan Hotel not only has the exquisite characteristics of Jiangnan gardens, but also has the open space of northern gardens. Among them, rocks, lakes, flowers and trees are in harmony with the main building with white walls and gray tiles. The whole building not only conforms to the traditional garden architectural style of China, but also conforms to the modern tourism function. Xiangshan Hotel 1984 won the honorary award of American Architectural Society.
