After selecting the VR renderer in MAX, select Pick Material in the Material Browser.
Get material is the first button in the material window, pop up the material browser, select the top one called Mtl library, then open one below, find out where your VR material is, and then assign it to an object.
You'd better put your VR material library in MAX's default material library, which is where MAX installed it. For example, I installed it in: d: \ program files \ Autodesk \ 3dmax 8.0.
There is a folder named matlibs below. Put it in. When MAX uses this material, you don't need to look for it. You only need to open the material a little, and this folder will open automatically. Because this is MAX's default.
