Morphological Characteristics
Perennial herb, 60-80cm tall, with short rhizomes and cordate fibrous roots. Leaves basal, narrowly striped, 20-60cm long, 0.5-1cm wide, scape slender, 40-60cm long, apically 1-2-flowered, rarely 3-4-flowered, shortly pedicellate or nearly sessile, bracts nearly lanceolate; corolla nearly funnel-shaped, with a few bracts. bracts sublanceolate; corolla subfunnelform, yellowish, fragrant, proximal floral tube 1--3 cm, distal lobes 6. 3 segments of outer whorl, oblong, 3 segments of inner whorl, rectangular, reflexed at anthesis. Capsule, ellipsoid or rectangular, 2-3 cm long (Fig. 140).

Geographical distribution
Distributed in China, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Liaoning, E of Nei Mongol, Hebei, Shanxi, Shaanxi, and E of Gansu, and Ningxia; abroad, Mongolia, Korea, and Russia (Siberia and the Far East) as well.
Biological and ecological characteristics of small yellow cauliflower to asexual reproduction, annual April return to the green, June-July flowering, August-September fruit maturity. Small yellow cauliflower is mesic - meadow plants, suitable for warm, moist climatic conditions, in moderate humidity or slightly moist fertile soil grows well, can be cold and drought-resistant. It generally grows in mountain grasslands, forest margins, hilly scrub meadows, meadows, meadow grasslands, and stream edges at elevations below 2300m. It is one of the common dominant plants in miscellaneous grass meadows and meadow grasslands, and is a common companion species of Baikal needlegrass (Stipa bicalensis) and line-leaved daisy (Filifolium sibiricum) grasslands. It grows in patches in the "five-flower grass ponds" in the Horqin grassland area. The flowering season can become a landscape plant.
Feeding value
Small yellow cauliflower is a grazing forage, which can be eaten in all seasons. Its seedlings, young leaves and flower buds are rich in protein, sugar and starch. Especially the buds are the most nutritious. Each 100g contains 0.39mg of carotene, 0.118mg of riboflavin, and 36mg of other vitamins, which is one of the main good forage grasses that can promote the fertilization of livestock. Small yellow cauliflower has good palatability and is enjoyed by horses, cows, sheep and deer. Its chemical composition is shown in Table 140.

Other uses
Small yellow cauliflower is an important wild economic plant, June-July buds and first flowers, steamed and dried, processed into dried vegetables that is "golden needles" or "yellow cauliflower", "yellow cauliflower" or "yellow cauliflower". "Yellow cauliflower" is a famous wild vegetable. The root can be used as medicine, with stomach, diuretic and swelling and other functions.
The plant is clumped, with large bright flowers, and can be used as an ornamental plant for urban greening.
