The yellow-throated mink is a typical carnivore, ranging from insects to fish and small birds and animals. Among small animals, squirrels and flying squirrels are often preyed on. It also preys on large pheasants, such as ring-necked pheasant, spoon chicken and silver pheasant. It can also hunt large mammals in groups, such as muntjac, forest musk deer, impala and even small wild boar. Besides animal food, we also eat some wild fruits and berries.
Habits of yellow-throated mink
Yellow-throated minks like to live in mountain forests or hilly areas. They will build caves in tree holes and rock holes. They usually participate in group activities individually or collectively, mostly from early morning to dusk.
Because of its wide distribution and stable population, the yellow-throated mink was rated as a species without survival crisis. Later, in 2008, the yellow-throated mink was listed in the IUCN Red List of Endangered Species-Low Risk, Appendix III of cites, Red List of Biodiversity in China-Vertebrate Volume, Near Risk and so on.
