The uses of Baiyangdian reed mainly include the following aspects:
1. High-quality reeds are packaged and processed and exported to South Korea and Japan to create foreign exchange;
2. Select some reeds to make reed craft paintings after exquisite hand-making. Baiyangdian reed craft paintings were invented in the early Ming Dynasty, and after continuous exploration and improvement by generations of folk artists, they have now formed folk crafts with strong Baiyangdian characteristics, with a history of more than 500 years. The material of the craft painting is the new reed germinated in Baiyangdian in June, which is carbonized at high temperature, and is carefully produced by more than ten processes, such as ironing, pumping, splicing and bonding, and various artistic techniques. This craft also draws lessons from the deep artistic features of Chinese painting, and has a strong Baiyangdian water town style. Because of its unique materials, it will not rot for a hundred years, and it is known as "green art". Reed craft painting takes reed as the material and Chinese painting as the copy, which develops a new field of Baiyangdian reed craft production. The products involve six categories of people, scenery, flowers, birds, fish and insects 140 varieties. Now, in addition to being popular in China market, it has been exported to European market. Some time ago, a Dutch company was enough to walk 160 pieces of reed craft paintings.
3. Reed replaces wood as papermaking material. Reed, a high-quality papermaking material, has an annual output of 75,000 tons in Baiyangdian, which can replace150,000 cubic meters of wood.
Reed can be used to weave reed mat and reed foil.
5. After layers of "screening", there are some reeds with poor quality left. However, our Baiyangdian people did not abandon them, but used them as fuel, burning fires to keep warm and cooking.
Besides, reeds have some uses that are not common, so I won't mention them again.
