The heterochromatic pupil of Shandong lion cat is defective. Lion cat is mainly produced in Shandong, so it is called Shandong Lion Cat. It is a variation breed bred by crossing Persian cat with blue eyes and local civet cat with yellow eyes, so the offspring may have a different color pupil, which is a blue eye and a yellow eye, also called Yuanyang eye or Yin and Yang eye.

Heterochromatic pupil is the result of gene mutation. Such cats may have defects. Lions with heterochromatic pupils have a high probability of hearing impairment, and a large number of cats are born deaf.
