Kaili, nicknamed "Kai", alias: Miaoling Pearl, located in the east of Guizhou, China, is a regional central city in the east of Guizhou Province, China, the five major urban centers of the Central Guizhou Economic Zone, and the capital of Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture; It is one of the major central cities in Guizhou Province, China. "Kaili" is a phonetic translation of Miao language, which means "Mulao's field". Miao language calls the Mulao nationality "Kai", the field "Li", and "Kai Li" means "the place where the Mulao nationality fields".
Kaili is known as "the hometown of China with a hundred festivals", with the longest and widest wind and rain bridge and the largest Miao village in the world. Kaili combines the wave of modernization with the traditional Miao and Dong culture, and integrates modernization with tradition to promote Kaili to become an excellent tourist city. Famous scenic spots around Kaili and the city include Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village, Cunninghamia lanceolata River, Yuntai Mountain, Jianhe Hot Spring, Miao and Dong Style Garden, Si Xia Ancient Town, Zhou Xi Ecological Park, Nanhua Miao Village, Qianyang No.1 Mountain and Pingliang Ancient Gorge.
Kaili City was originally Lushan County. After decades of economic development, Kaili has become a new industrial city with electronics, textiles and building materials as the main industries. Now it is a national Class B open area. Kaili is the center of politics, economy, culture, people flow, science and technology, education, logistics and information flow in Qiandongnan Prefecture. It is also one of the major central cities in Guizhou Province.
