KFC's chicken comes from China.
In March 2013, KFC signed a letter of intent with Shengnong to purchase chicken from the newly developed Pucheng project. The Pucheng project is expected to have a capacity of 120 million birds in the first phase after commissioning, with a maximum capacity of 250 million birds. This means that San Ag's total production capacity will exceed 500 million chickens by then. Shengnong is KFC's biggest chicken supplier, and its share will increase further when the new project comes on stream.
KFC disclosed that in addition to Shengnong, it also has different degrees of cooperation with nine chicken suppliers in the self-farming one-stop model. 3-5 of these suppliers will have new one-stop projects put into operation in 2014, and KFC will increase its purchasing volume. It is expected that by the end of 2014, the proportion of chicken supplied to KFC by the one-stop model will increase to more than 60%.
Shengnong and KFC established a close working relationship in the early 1990s. It is because of KFC's support that Shengnong has been able to achieve today's success on the road of one-stop farming model. Every link in this industrial chain is invested, designed and managed by Shengnong itself, with the aim of ensuring the safety of chicken meat.
