What is the tax rate of building materials in Thailand?
Thailand Customs has a tariff rate of10 ~15% for raw materials,15 ~ 40% for semi-finished products, 30 ~ 60% for finished products and 40% for commercial advertisements. Since 1993, Thailand Customs has also levied 7% value-added tax on imported goods. The import of medical machinery, electrical devices and other products used for national economic development can enjoy duty-free treatment. Most tariffs in Thailand are ad valorem taxes, while prices are CIF. When specific duty is adopted, tariff is calculated according to weight, volume or unit. Some products have both specific and ad valorem tax rates. When there are both tariff rates for a product, the higher tariff rate shall prevail. To levy tariffs on imported goods, Thailand Customs adopts the following three methods: (1) applying ad valorem tax rate; (2) the application of specific tax rate or ad valorem tax rate, whichever is greater; (3) Only the specific tax rate is levied. Thai customs valuation is based on the real market price of imported goods sold in the open market. The real market price of goods is defined as the total cash price of goods of the same kind and quality sold at the time and place of import and export without loss or deduction. In fact, Thailand Customs has established a customs valuation procedure for customs officers to refer to.
