Origin:
Legend has it that the earliest place name in Guangzhou is "Chuting" (or "Chuting"). Under the Sun Yat-sen Monument on the Yuexiu Mountain, there is still a stone archway built by the Qing Dynasty, which is engraved with the words "Chu Pavilion in ancient times". Many historical records regard "Chuting" as the prototype of Guangzhou, and it is the earliest title of Guangzhou, which is 2847 years ago.
Legend has it that five immortals, dressed in colorful clothes and riding colorful sheep, came to Chuting with one stem and six ears of fine rice seeds, and presented the ears of rice to the local people, wishing that there would never be famine here. With that, five immortals flew away, and five sheep turned into stones. In memory of the five immortals, the local people built a Five Immortals Temple, which is said to be the "Chu Ting". As a result, Guangzhou is also known as "Yangcheng" and "Guangzhou City". ?
