Description: Gentiana macrophylla: cylindrical, thick on the top and thin on the bottom, curved, length 10 ~ 30cm, diameter 1 ~ 3cm. The surface is yellowish brown or grayish yellow, with longitudinal or twisted longitudinal wrinkles, and there are residual stem bases and fibrous leaf sheaths at the top. Hard and brittle, easily broken, slightly oily in section, yellow or brown in skin and yellow in wood. Qi is single-minded, bitter and slightly astringent.
Gentiana straminea: it is cone-shaped and consists of several small roots, with a diameter of 7cm. The surface is brown and rough, with cracks and reticular holes. The quality is brittle and easily broken, and the cut surface is mostly rotten.

Sexual taste is pungent, bitter and flat.
Meridian tropism belongs to stomach, liver and gallbladder meridians.
Functions are mainly used for expelling wind and removing dampness, clearing damp heat and stopping arthralgia. Can be used for rheumatic arthralgia, tendon contracture, arthralgia, hot flashes, and infantile malnutrition and fever.
Usage and dosage: 3 ~ 9g.
Store in a ventilated and dry place.
Remarks: (1) This product is wet but not dry, and can be used for cold-dampness, damp-heat and arthralgia syndrome. In compatibility, it is often used with Radix Saposhnikoviae, Notopterygii Rhizoma, Radix Angelicae Pubescentis and Ramulus Mori. In addition, it is often combined with drugs for expelling wind and relieving exterior syndrome to treat exterior syndrome and limb pain. Damp-heat jaundice is often combined with Yinchen, Poria and Alisma orientalis. For bone steaming and hot flashes, it is often combined with turtle shell, Anemarrhena rhizome and wolfberry bark.
