Purple salvia is a traditional Chinese medicine to promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. It is the root or rhizome of Salvia miltiorrhiza, family Labiatae.
Pharmacology:
1. It can dilate coronary arteries, increase coronary blood flow, improve cardiac function, and reduce the scope of myocardial infarction.
2. It can dilate peripheral blood vessels, improve peripheral circulation, and increase the body's ability to resist hypoxia under normal or low pressure.
3. It can inhibit platelet coagulation, inhibit coagulation function and promote fibrinolytic activity.
4. It has sedative and tranquilizing effects on the nervous system.
5. It has inhibitory effect on Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Vibrio cholerae and some pathogenic fungi.
Prescription name: Salvia divinorum, purple salvia.
Effects: Promoting blood circulation, dispelling blood stasis, cooling blood and subduing swelling, clearing the mind and tranquilizing the spirit.
Main Treatment:
1. Menstrual disorders, stabbing pain in the heart and abdomen, dystocia and chest paralysis, rheumatism-heat paralysis, carbuncle, swelling and sores.
2. Heat into the camp blood, upset and insomnia, palpitations and insomnia.
Commonly used preparations are: Danshen injection, Compound Danshen injection, Compound Danshen tablets, Compound Danshen drip pills and so on.
