A vast majority of liver cancer patients' liver pain is usually located in the right quadrilateral ribs or under the raphe (right upper abdomen), and the nature of the pain is intermittent or persistent vague, dull or stabbing pain, and the patient may feel the discomfort in the right upper abdomen for a period of time before the pain. The pain may be mild or severe or relieved on its own for a short period of time. Tumors located in the left lobe often cause middle-upper abdominal pain; tumors located in the right lobe, the pain in the right quarter of the ribs; when the tumor involves the septum, the pain radiates to the right shoulder or the right back, which is easily mistaken for shoulder arthritis; tumors located in the posterior segment of the right lobe can sometimes cause lumbar pain; the tumor is located in the deeper part of the liver parenchyma, the pain is usually rarely felt.

The cause of pain is mainly due to the rapid enlargement of the tumor, which presses on the hepatic peritoneum and produces pulling pain, so the closer the tumor is to the surface of the liver, the more painful symptoms will appear. If the pain appears suddenly or the pain increases suddenly, consider the possibility of rupture and bleeding of liver cancer.
