The Golden Dragonfish is the Asian Dragonfish, which is found in Peninsular Malaysia, Indonesia (Kalimantan and Sumatra), Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. In recent years, some fish taxonomists have subdivided the Asian dragonfish found in Indonesia into three separate species.
The Hong Kong people call it the dragon spatula, and the Malaysians call it the golden dragonfish. Like other bony-tongued fishes, this species is regarded as retaining many of the original features of bony fishes.
It has research value in paleontological evolution and can be called a living fossil. It is used as a premium ornamental fish by Chinese communities in Singapore and Hong Kong, where it is believed to bring good luck and wealth.

Golden Dragon Fish Species:
Golden Dragons can be generally categorized into three main types based on their origin, namely Golden Dragons, Red Dragons and Green Dragons. Of these, the Golden Dragon can be subdivided into two types: the Red Tailed Golden Dragon, which grows in Sumatra, Indonesia, and the Over Backed Golden Dragon, which grows in Malaysia.
Similarly, red dragons can be divided into "super red" (chili red), blood red and orange red. However, the differences between these three types of red dragons are smaller than those between the two types of gold dragons, and all of the red dragons come from Kalimantan, Indonesia.
As for the green dragons, due to their wide distribution, they are slightly different in each place, but the differences are not significant. There are also Green Dragons and Yellow Tail Dragons, but not many people keep them.
