The science examination mode of multiple-choice questions and true-false questions is getting worse and worse, and the most humanistic, aesthetic, flexible and creative Chinese education has become a purely technical and almost stereotyped mechanical training.
It is in this context that the "New Concept Composition Contest" came into being. Its starting point is to explore a way to return Chinese teaching to its due humanity and aesthetics, so that the Chinese subject full of lofty ideals, creativity and imagination can truly become a basic subject to improve students' comprehensive quality.
Second, the form of participation
1998, the first new concept composition contest started. Facing the new century and cultivating new talents, the "New Concept Composition Competition" was jointly sponsored by seven national key universities, including Peking University, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Shandong University and Xiamen University, and sponsored by Germination magazine. The competition invited domestic first-class writers, editors and humanities scholars as judges. The competition is divided into preliminary, semi-final and final. The preliminary contest follows the form of essay writing in general literary journals, with no proposition, no limitation on subject matter and genre, less than 5,000 words, and has never been published in public journals. The "New Concept Composition Competition" makes full use of the natural connection between Germination and writers and scholars all over the country, and its authority has also been approved by the heads of colleges and universities, which makes the winners of the competition establish a connection with colleges and universities through competitions, plays an important role in transporting reserve talents in humanities in the future, and becomes a favorable supplementary form for selecting talents in the college entrance examination, and is known as the "Chinese Olympics" in China. In the first contest, Chen Jiayong, Song Jingru, Wang Yue, Yang Qian, Wu Di, Li Jia and Liu Jiajun were admitted to Peking University, Nankai University, Nanjing University and East China Normal University without test. They did not become writers or enter the liberal arts. Literature was their way to nourish their souls and sentiments, and they were always lovers and readers of literature. Since 1999, many newspapers and magazines across the country have reported that the "new concept composition" contest has made a great impact on traditional Chinese education, which has triggered deep thinking on exam-oriented education and quality education from all walks of life.
