1. What is genetically modified food?
Genetically modified food means that scientists change the genes of animals and plants in the laboratory and then create new foods with new characteristics. For example, by adding an antifreeze gene of a marine fish growing in the Arctic to ordinary tomatoes, this popular food can be preserved for a longer time in winter, thus greatly extending the shelf life.
2. What is different from traditional food is genetically modified?
Answer: cherry tomatoes, colored peppers, pumpkins and cucumbers are not genetically modified foods.
There is a list of genetically modified foods circulating on the Internet, including "cherry tomatoes, big colored peppers, pumpkins and cucumbers". Experts don't agree with this.
3. Treat genetically modified foods correctly
Genetically modified food is likely to bring benefits to human beings, at least eliminating obvious harm in the short term, but it does not rule out the possibility of long-term negative effects! Since it is beneficial, we should publicize the results of genetically modified foods, but if we are not sure that there is no negative impact, we must be cautious. I believe the government has macro-control over food safety (food safety belongs to illegal businesses).
