Morphological characteristics of Wuling ginseng
The interior of sclerotia is white, with soft meat and a termite-like aroma. It tastes sweet. The upper end of the sclerotium has a handle hanging from the upper wall of the termite hole and connected with the false root. Pseudorhizomes are cylindrical or oblate, 2-3 mm in diameter, black in appearance and white in interior, often branched, and grow zigzag in soil. It is connected with the handle of the base. The subgenus are scattered or clustered on the ground, with many single branches and occasional self-stalked branches. It is round, with a height of 4- 18cm, a length of 1-6cm, a diameter of 2-5mm, a black appearance, a gray interior and a black center. The stroma is rod-shaped, 3- 12cm long, 2.5-7mm in diameter, slightly thick in the middle, blunt and round at the top, gray at birth and brown later. There is a verrucous drug film on the surface of the substrate, and the drug film shell is oval. Buried in the outer layer of matrix, wart mouth is black, ascospores are numerous, spherical, dark brown when mature, and lateral filaments.
