Breeding
During the breeding season, male bovids compete and the winner gets to mate with other females. The competition may be a fight or a ritualistic maneuver to see who is stronger. Once a fight occurs, male bovids hold each other's horns against each other and push each other hard until one retreats. Some species, such as bighorn sheep, will charge at each other and headbutt each other's heads, with most of these blows being absorbed by their thick skullcaps.
