Night markets appeared in big cities in the late Tang Dynasty. During the Song Dynasty and the Northern Song Dynasty, the rulers explicitly allowed the night market in Tokyo (now Kaifeng City, Henan Province) in the Northern Song Dynasty. Nowadays, it refers to a market that mainly trades at night, which may sell groceries, snacks, games and so on.

The Jiaxingkong Night Market Project consists of five characteristic blocks and nine main buildings, such as an empty food plaza, a special snack night market street, a network celebrity street in Guo Chao, a graffiti street and a public parking lot. It will be built into a characteristic network celebrity commercial street integrating food and beverage, leisure and entertainment, night market economy and network celebrity punching.
