Mata Lake is located in Qifeng Town, northeast of Huantai County, Zibo City. This area is low-lying, where Fuxiao River, Wuhe River and Zhulong River meet and form a natural lake. 1995 was listed as a provincial-level scenic spot by the Shandong provincial government, and was listed as a provincial-level ecological function demonstration zone and a national wetland protection zone in 2002. The whole lake area is surrounded by clear water, rivers crisscross into a net, and reeds and lotus ponds are endless. Because they have lived on water for a long time, the villagers here rely on ships for transportation and work, so they are called "water towns in the north". Mata Lake has beautiful scenery and rich specialties. There are dozens of species such as carp, silver carp, crucian carp, eel and crab in the lake, and there are more than 70 species of wild birds. Among them, golden duck eggs and white lotus roots were once court tributes of past dynasties. The products in the lake can make 100 kinds of special snacks with unique flavor, such as: white lotus root under flowers, fried lotus, fried mint, fried lotus root, lotus seed soup, loach balls, fried crucian carp with scales, Chili carp slices, Pubaihuang fresh soup, etc., all of which are excellent famous dishes.

Mata Lake also has a long history of cultural relics. There are historical sites such as Wuxian Temple, Water Park, Wang Shizhen Memorial Hall, IV Gongbaofang and Huantai Museum in the scenic spot. Since ancient times, geese and ducks have flocked to Mata Lake. Golden duck eggs have gained a good reputation. Goose and duck usually feed on the clams in the lake, and the duck eggs produced are of good quality and unique color and fragrance. After pickling and steaming, you can see that there is an egg butter ring at the junction of egg whites and egg yolks, which seems to be twisted with gold thread. It is delicious, the egg is oily but not greasy, and the meat sand does not choke the throat, so it is named golden thread duck egg. Used to be a royal tribute.
