Meat is mainly livestock, including cattle, chickens and pigs. In the slack season, wild boar, muntjac, nine-section raccoon dog, pheasant and birds are hunted for food. There are many kinds of vegetables, such as bamboo shoots, green vegetables, cucumbers, wax gourd, peppers and wild vegetables.
Wa people's diet is relatively simple, generally eating rotten rice, which is generally eclipsed by two or three meals. In the past, Wa people used to grab food with their hands when eating, but now they all use chopsticks and spoons.
Wa people like drinking, so they cook red rice and mix it with wine and medicine for fermentation. After about half a month, they put it in a bamboo tube and mixed it with cold water. This is Shuijiu. There is a saying among the Wa people that "no ceremony is impossible without wine".
Wa people also like to drink bitter tea, smoke tobacco and chew betel nut.
