Daweifang brand history of Daweifang

"Daweifang" was founded in the 18th year of Wanli (AD 1590). The founder, Feng Shoucheng, has lived in Shanghai County (today's suburbs of Shanghai) for generations. At that time, Feng Shoucheng was based on "meal supplement" and uniquely used fresh bamboo braid to wrap chicken and duck meat to marinate bamboo braided chicken (duck), and used fruit wood as charcoal raw material to roast chicken, duck, fish and other cooked foods, which were delicious in color and fragrance. It is good for appetite and easy to store. It can be used with wine or tea. Everyone in Songjiang area knows this.

In the twenty-fourth year of Wanli (1596 AD), Feng Menglong, a great writer of the Ming Dynasty, visited Songjiang. The prefect entertained Feng Menglong with "Daweifang" delicacies. At the banquet, Feng Menglong had a great appetite and was very happy. Knowing that the owner was also a descendant of the Feng family, Feng Menglong went to pay a visit. He saw bamboo-woven chickens (ducks) and roasted chickens in the shop with bright colors and rich medicinal aroma. He also saw that Feng Shoucheng was making old soups, decoctions, bamboo skewers, etc. The ingredients were cut in an orderly manner. Feng Menglong lamented that he had never seen such craftsmanship and was meticulous in every possible way. He even sighed that "delicious food is among the people", and immediately wrote a poem for Daweifang: Daweifang's poems: crisp pines and bamboos leaning against the square pond, suddenly smelling the river The fruits and woods are fragrant, and the shepherd boys play in the water and watch the cows, sheep, chickens and ducks pecking for food. Menglong goes to Songjiang to look for it and occasionally gets a wonderful recipe to make a meal. The delicious food is famous among the people. Feng Menglong praised Daweifang as "one of the best in Songjiang". After returning to Beijing, Emperor Shenzong asked Daweifang as a tribute.

From then on, Daweifang was continuously sent to the imperial court and was exclusively used by the royal family and nobles. After Emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty ate Daweifang, his face was radiant, his appetite was great, and he loved it so much. For a time, the royal family and nobles all ate Daweifang, and it became popular. Daweifang has also become an indispensable dish in state banquets and has become famous both at home and abroad. Until the end of the Ming Dynasty, the world was in turmoil, with wars and disputes in various places. The descendants of the Feng family fled with their families. Daweifang disappeared since then, and the whereabouts of the descendants of the Feng family are unknown. Descendants of the Feng family returned to Daweifang and put up a golden sign. By chance, Shangderuogu Catering Management (Beijing) Co., Ltd. received information from insiders that the descendants of the Feng family of Daweifang have now settled in Chongming Island, Shanghai. Shangderuogu regards inheriting and promoting traditional Chinese delicacies as its own responsibility. In recent years, it has been searching for traditional folk delicacies, and relies on its own advantageous resources to help folk delicacies embark on a path of modern, large-scale and healthy development. After learning about the descendants of the Feng family, the company executives and others immediately went to Shanghai to listen to the ups and downs of the Feng family for more than 400 years.

On Chongming Island in Shanghai, we met Feng Jinping, the seventeenth generation successor of Daweifang. It turns out that after the late Ming Dynasty, the descendants of the Feng family moved their families to Jiangsu Province, and then moved back to Shanghai during the late Qing Dynasty. During this period, Daweifang did not continue to operate, but the exclusive craftsmanship and recipes were passed down from generation to generation. The reason why Feng Jinping returned to Shanghai again was because he wanted to make a comeback and carry forward the Daweifang brand. This coincided with Shangderuogu's idea, and the two parties hit it off immediately, and immediately confirmed the cooperation matters related to the development of Daweifang.
