Customs:
During dragon boat rowing, there are many dragon boat songs that are sung to add to the fun. For example, during dragon boat rowing in Zigui, Hubei, there is a complete singing style. The lyrics and music are based on local songs and chants. The singing sound is majestic and exciting, which is the legacy of "raising each other and bowing in harmony". Another example is the Longyan Song in Nanxiong County, Guangdong, which is sung after the four dragon boats are launched and ends at the Dragon Boat Festival. The performance content is very wide.
Colorful threads are also called "five-color threads", "Zhu Suo", "Baisuo", etc. They are a must-have item during the Dragon Boat Festival. On the day of the Dragon Boat Festival, tying colorful silk threads around the wrists, ankles and neck of a child is said to ward off evil spirits and prevent the five poisons from approaching. This kind of colorful silk strands should be worn until "Six Six" before being cut off and thrown into the river to be washed away.
