Fairy Tales of the Wizard of Oz
A whirlwind is coming.
Dorothy lives in the middle of the Kansas prairie with Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. My uncle runs a farm. The room they live in is very small, with four walls stacked together, a roof and a floor. The big bed that Uncle Henry and Aunt Em slept in is in the corner, and the little bed that Dorothy slept in is in the other corner. There is no attic or basement in the house? There is only a small hole that goes straight to the ground. This hole is called. Cyclone cave? . If a big tornado comes, the whole family can hide inside, because it can blow down any house on the way through.
Dorothy is an orphan. When she first came to Aunt Em, her aunt was startled by the girl's laughter. Whenever Dorothy's cheerful voice reaches her ears, her aunt always screams and puts her hand on her heart. She looked at the little girl in surprise? Because she can find laughter in everything.
It is Toto who makes Dorothy laugh. Toto is not gray in an environment where everything around him is gradually gray. It is a little black dog, with soft and smooth long hair and a pair of small black eyes, blinking happily on both sides of its funny little nose. Toto plays with it all day, and Dorothy plays with it, too. She likes it very much.
However, they don't play today. Uncle Henry sat on the doorstep and looked anxiously at the darker sky than usual. Aunt Amy is washing a bunch of pots.
From the far north, they heard the low wind. Before the storm came, Uncle Henry and Dorothy saw the grass undulating there. Now, from the high altitude in the south, there is also a sharp whistle. Their eyes turned to there and saw that the grass in that direction also set off waves.
Uncle Henry suddenly stood up.
? Em, the whirlwind is coming! ? He said to his wife. I want to take care of livestock. ? So he ran to the barn, where there were some cows and sheep.
Aunt em put down the washbasin and ran to the door. I took one look and knew that danger was coming soon.
? Dorothy, hurry! ? She screamed; ? Run to the hole! ?
Toto jumped out of Dorothy's arms and hid under the bed. The girl ran to catch it.
Aunt Amy was very scared. She opened the movable door on the floor, climbed down the ladder and hid in a small, dark hole.
Dorothy grabbed Toto and ran after her menstruation. When she ran to the center of the room, there was a strong wind. Suddenly, the room shook so badly that she slipped and sat down on the floor.
So something strange happened.
The house rotated two or three times and slowly rose to the sky. Dorothy felt as if she were sitting in a light balloon and rising gradually.
At that time, the sky was very dark and the wind roared horribly around her. But Dorothy is comfortable. After the first slight rotation, when the room tilted sharply, she seemed to feel like a baby lying in a cradle. Toto doesn't like swinging like this.
It ran around the house and shouted.
As time went by, Dorothy gradually lost her fear. But she felt very lonely. She waited calmly to see what would happen in the future. Finally, she climbed onto the bed from the shaking floor and lay down; Toto followed, lying beside her. Regardless of the swing of the room and the whine of the whirlwind, Dorothy quickly closed her eyes and fell asleep.
Meet the dreamer.
A sudden and violent vibration woke Dorothy up, and Toto put its cold little nose on her face and whined sadly.
Dorothy sat up and observed carefully, but the room did not move. It's not dark anymore, because the bright sunshine shines through the window and fills the small room. She jumped out of bed and ran to open the door. Toto followed her.
The little girl looked around, let out a cry of surprise and stared blankly at the strange sight she saw.
The wooden house is in the center of a strange and beautiful place, where lovely green grass and tall trees are covered, and the Woods are full of rich and sweet fruits. Strange flowers and grasses are growing everywhere on the hillside, and birds are singing in rare gorgeous and beautiful feather clothes and flapping their wings in the Woods and bushes. Not far away, there is a stream running along the green slope, bubbling and making a gurgling sound. The little girl is very happy about it because she has lived on the dry and gray grassland for too long.
At this moment, a group of people came to her. Three of them are men and one is a woman, all wearing strange clothes. The man wears a green round hat with a small spire in the middle and small bells hanging around it. They jingled when they walked. A woman's hat is white, wearing a white robe, draped over her shoulders, with little stars shining on it, like many Jin Gangzuan in the sun.
When these people approached the shack, the little old woman walked up to Dorothy, bowed deeply and said in a beautiful voice:
? The noblest female magician, welcome to this dreamland. We are very grateful to you, because you killed the wicked witch in the East and liberated us from slavery. ?
Dorothy was very surprised when she heard these words. She stammered: Thank you. There must be some mistake. I've never killed anyone. ?
? That's what your family does anyway. The little old woman answered with a loud smile. Look! That's the truth. ? She continued, pointing to a corner of the room. Her feet are still exposed under a board. ?
When Dorothy saw it, she let out a cry of fear. Really under a beam in the corner of the room, sticking out two feet and wearing a pair of pointed silver shoes.
? Ouch! Ouch! ? Dorothy cried, clutching her hands in surprise. ? This house must have overwhelmed her. What should we do?
? She is what I call the wicked witch of the East. The little old woman replied, She has enslaved the dreamer for many years. Now, they are completely free. Thank you for your kindness. ?
? Who is the dreamer? Dorothy asked.
? They are ordinary people living in this eastern land, which is managed by evil witches.
Dorothy asked, Are you from Munchkin?
? No; Although I live in the north, I am their friend. But I am a good witch and people love me. My magic is not as good as the evil witch here, otherwise, I would have liberated these people. ?
Dorothy said to the witch, I am eager to go back to my aunt and uncle because I know they must be worried about me. Can you help me find my way back to Kansas?
The Munchkin and the witch looked at each other first, then at Dorothy, so they shook their heads.
? The north is my home. The little old woman said, what do you think? On the border, around Oz, it's the same desert. Honey, I think you must live with us. ?
Dorothy cried because she felt lonely among these strangers. The little old woman took off her hat, put the tip of her nose on it and counted it in a solemn voice? One, two, three? . The hat immediately turned into a slate with huge white words written on it.
Send Dorothy to emerald city. The little old woman took the slate off her nose, read these words and asked? My dear girl, is your name Dorothy?
? what's up After that, the little girl looked up and wiped her tears.
? Then, you must go to emerald city. Maybe the Wizard of Oz will help you. ?
Dorothy asked, where is this city?
? In the center of the country, run by Oz. He is a great magician. ?
The little girl asked sadly, is he a good man?
? He is an excellent magician. You must walk. This is a long journey, and I will use all the magic I know to help you avoid disaster. I will kiss you. No one dares to hurt anyone who has been kissed by a northern witch. ?
She approached Dorothy and kissed her forehead tenderly. When her lips touched the little girl, she left a round and bright mark, which Dorothy noticed later.
The witch said:? The road to emerald city is paved with yellow bricks, so you won't get lost.
When you find Oz, don't be afraid of him. Just tell him your story and ask him for help. Goodbye, my dear girl. ?
Three Munchkins also bowed deeply to her and wished her a pleasant journey. After that, they went through the Woods. The witch nodded slightly to Dorothy in a friendly way, turned her left heel three times, and then disappeared at once. Little Toto was surprised. After the witch left, she barked loudly behind her.
Saved the scarecrow
Dorothy is alone. She is going to emerald city.
The girl washed her face carefully, put on a clean plaid coat, tied a pink sun hat on her head, and carried a small basket full of bread out of the cupboard, covered with a white cloth. Then she looked down at her feet and found what an old pair of shoes she was wearing.
She said:? Toto, old shoes can't go far. ? Toto raised his head, looked at her face with his small black eyes, and wagged his tail to show that he understood her.
So she took off her old leather shoes and put on the silver shoes of the witch of the East, which seemed to be made for her.
Finally, she lifted the basket and got angry with Toto.
Soon she found a road paved with yellow bricks. She walked briskly to emerald city at once. Her silver shoes make a nice sound when walking on the hard yellow road.
Towards dusk, Dorothy walked a long way and was tired. She was anxious to know where she should spend the night. She ran to a room slightly larger than the others. There are many men and women dancing on the green grass in front. Five violinists tried their best to play loudly, and everyone laughed and sang. At this time, on a big table nearby, there are exquisite fruits and hard nuts, buns and cakes, and many other delicious things.
Dorothy had a sumptuous dinner, which was personally served by a Munchkin named Bokui.
She sat on a bench with a backrest and watched everyone dance.
When she was tired of watching dancing, Bokui led her into the room and gave her a room with a beautiful bed. The sheets were made of blue cloth, and Dorothy lay on them until dawn. Toto curled up on the blue carpet next to her.
The next day, she had a big breakfast and saw a little Munchkin baby. He played with Toto, dragging its tail, cheering and laughing.
The little girl asked: How far is it to emerald city?
? I don't know? Boqui replied solemnly,? Because I haven't been there. Unless you have any business and connections, it is better not to go to Oz's place. It will take many days. ?
This made Dorothy a little worried, but she knew that only the great Oz could help her get back to Kansas, so she decided to go forward bravely.
She said goodbye to her friends and set off along the yellow brick road again. She drove a few miles and wanted to stop and have a rest, so she climbed to the top of the low wall by the road and sat down. The partition was a large paddy field, and she saw a scarecrow hanging high on a bamboo pole, watching the birds.
The scarecrow's head is a small cloth bag filled with straw, with eyes, nose and mouth painted on it.
Wearing a shabby blue pointed hat like Munchkin style, wearing a blue dress, which has faded and is still stuffed with straw. A pair of old shoes with blue cloth on their feet.
When Dorothy carefully observed the strange colors painted on the scarecrow's face, she was surprised to find that his eyes blinked slowly at her. At first, she thought she must be mistaken, because there is no scarecrow blinking in Kansas; But now this guy nodded to her in a friendly way. So she climbed down from the low wall and walked towards him. At this moment, Toto was running and shouting around the bamboo pole.
? All right. ? Said the Scarecrow, his voice a little hoarse.
The little girl asked strangely, Are you talking?
? Of course. The scarecrow replied? How are you?
? Thank you, I'm fine. Dorothy replied politely. How are you?
? I don't feel well. The scarecrow said with a smile, because it is very annoying to hang here all day and all night to scare away crows. ?
Dorothy asked, can you come down?
? No, because the bamboo pole is stuck in my back. If you help me take it out, I will thank you very much. ?
Dorothy stretched out her arms and picked him up from the bamboo pole, because it was full of straw and very light.
When the scarecrow sat on the ground, he said, thank you. I feel like a different person. ?
It's really strange to listen to a scarecrow and watch him bow around by his own strength. Dorothy was very surprised.
The scarecrow stretched his legs, yawned a few times and asked, Who are you? Where are you going?
? My name is Dorothy. The little girl said,? I went to emerald city and asked the great Ozzie to take me home to Kansas. ?
He asked again:? Where is emerald city? Who's Oz?
? What, you don't know? She answered him in surprise.
? No, really. I don't know anything. You know, I'm stuffed with straw, so I have no brain. ? He answered sadly.
? Alas,? Dorothy said? I'm really sorry. ?
He asked again:? If I go to emerald city with you, do you think Ozzie will give me a brain?
? I can't say,? She replied? You can go with me if you like. Even if Ozzie doesn't give you a brain, you won't be worse than you are now. ?
? That's true. Said the scarecrow. Do you know that?/You know what? He expressed his trust in her and went on to say:
? I don't care about my legs, hands, arms and body. They are all stuffed with straw, so I won't get hurt or feel pain. But I don't want people to call me an idiot. If I put a brain in my skull instead of filling a straw like you, I will know everything! ?
? I know how you feel. The little girl said she was really worried about him. If you come with me, I'll ask Oz to help you as much as possible. ?
? Thank you! ? He answered gratefully.
They walked back to the main road and Dorothy helped him climb over the low wall. Then they set off for emerald city along the road paved with yellow bricks.
At first, Toto didn't like such unexpected things involved. It smells the scarecrow everywhere, as if it suspects that there may be a nest of mice in the straw, and often barks at the scarecrow a little unkindly.
? Don't be afraid, Toto. Dorothy said to her new friend, it won't bite you. ?
? Well, I'm not afraid. The scarecrow replied? It can't bite straw. Here, let me help you with that basket. I don't care because I won't be tired. Let me tell you a secret. As he walked forward, he continued. There is only one thing in this world that scares me. ?
? What is that thing? Dorothy asked; ? But what about the farmer who made you munchkin?
? No? The scarecrow replied? This is a fierce game. ?
Saved the tin man
One day, they walked in the forest until they found a clear Koizumi, where Dorothy was drinking water, washing clothes and eating bread. She saw that there was not much bread in the basket, and the rest was only enough for herself and Toto to eat for one day. The little girl is very grateful to the scarecrow because he doesn't eat anything.
When she was about to run back to the yellow brick road after eating, she heard a low groan nearby and jumped with fear.
She asked timidly, what is that?
? I can't guess. The scarecrow replied? But we can run over and have a look. ?
Just then, another groan came into their ears, as if coming from behind them. They turned around and walked through the Woods without a few steps. Dorothy found something shining in the sun in the Woods. She ran to the place to have a look, suddenly stopped and cried in surprise. There used to be a big tree, part of which was cut down. Next to this tree, there is a man made entirely of iron. He has a tall axe in his hand. His head, arms, legs and feet are connected with him, but he stands still as if he can't move.
Dorothy stared at him in surprise, and so did the scarecrow. Toto barked violently and bit the tin man's leg, but hurt his teeth.
Dorothy asked, Are you moaning?
? Yes, it's me. The tin man answered her. I groaned for more than a year, but no one heard me and no one came to help me. ?
? what can I do for you? She was moved by the tin man's sad voice and asked softly.
? Go get an oil tank and oil my joints. He replied? These places are so rusty that I can't move at all If you cheer me up, I'll be able to move again in no time. You can find a can of oil on the shelf in my cabin. ?
Dorothy immediately ran to the cabin, found the fuel tank, turned around and asked eagerly, where are your joints?
? First, put oil on my head and neck. ? The tin man replied.
She added oil, because it was rusty, so the scarecrow held the tin man's head and shook it gently. He can't turn it by himself until he shakes it many times.
? Now, put oil on the joints of my arm. ? He said.
Dorothy put oil on them.
Scarecrow bent them carefully until the rusty place was as free and flexible as new.
The tin man sighed with satisfaction and put down the axe leaning against the tree.
So they oiled his leg until he was able to move freely. He thanked them for being saved.
He said:? If you don't come, maybe I will stand here forever, so you really saved my life. Excuse me, how did you get here?
? We went to emerald city to visit the great country of Oz. ? She replied.
He asked, why did you visit Ozzie?
She replied:? I'll ask him to take me back to Kansas; The scarecrow wants to ask him to put a brain in his skull. ?
The tin man seems to have thought for a long time. Then he said:? Do you think Ozzie can give me a heart?
Dorothy replied:? Yes, I think so. It's as simple as giving the brain to the scarecrow. ?
? That's the truth. The tin man replied? Well, if you promise to join your group, I want to go to emerald city, too, and ask Oz to help me. ?
Scarecrow is very enthusiastic. He said, shall we go?
Dorothy nodded at West Point, and she welcomed him as her companion. So the tin man took his axe and they walked through the Woods together until they reached the yellow brick road.
The tin man asked Dorothy to put the oil tank in her basket. He said:? If I get caught in the rain, it will rust again, so I really need to refuel. ?
They are really lucky to have a new partner to join this group. Shortly after they started to leave again, they arrived at a place where trees and branches grew thick and covered the road, making it impossible for travelers to walk.
But the tin man began to work with his axe and cut it very skillfully. He immediately cleared a way for them.
Timid lion
There are few birds in the Woods around here, because they like open and sunny places; But there are wild animals hidden in this forest, and there are long roars from time to time.
? Your silver shoes will take you across the desert. ? Gan Lin answered.
Then the good witch explained:? This pair of silver shoes, with magical power, can take you anywhere in three steps, and each step only takes a blink of an eye. As long as you put your feet together first, then turn your heels and collide with each other three times, you can order this pair of shoelaces to go anywhere you want. ?
The girl was very happy. He said, If this is true, I'll let them take me back to Kansas at once. ?
She put her arm around the lion's neck and kissed it: it patted its huge head gently; Then she kissed the tin man and he cried, which was dangerous to his joints; She hugged the soft scarecrow, which had straw in it, so that she didn't have to kiss the painted face. She cried sadly when these lovely companions parted.
Gan Linda stepped down from her ruby throne and kissed the little girl goodbye. She met her friends and herself, and Dorothy thanked her for her kindness.
Now, Dorothy solemnly held Toto in her arms, said goodbye for the last time, touched her heel three times in a row and said:
? Take me home to see aunt em! ?
Immediately, she was caught in the air and flew very fast. When the strong wind blows over her ears, all she can see or hear is a whistle.
The pair of silver shoes stopped after only three steps. She fell so suddenly that she didn't know where she landed until she rolled on the grass several times.
Finally, she sat up and looked around.
She shouted:? Oh, my god.
Because she is sitting on the prairie in Kansas, right in front of the new house that Uncle Henry built after a whirlwind blew away an old farmhouse. Uncle Henry is stroking the milk in the front yard of the barn. Toto jumped out of her arms and ran to the barn, shouting happily.
Dorothy stood up and found herself wearing only a pair of socks. Because her silver shoes were lost in the air and lost in the desert forever.
Home Again
Aunt Amy is running out of the house to wash cabbage. She looked up and saw Dorothy running towards her.
? My dear child! ? Aunt em shouted, putting her arms around the little girl and kissing her little face. Where did you run back from?
Dorothy said solemnly: I ran back from Ozzie's house, and so did Toto. Ah, Aunt Em, I'm so glad to be home! ?

What are you looking for? Emerald city? Maybe it's just a scam, but find something beneficial to yourself from the worst result.
4. Be optimistic, even on the most difficult road, hold your head high and sing.
A comfortable environment may be potentially dangerous, such as the poppy garden where Dorothy passed.
6. Unity is strength. No matter what difficulties there are in the future, as long as we unite, we can save the day. As long as we are United, there is nothing impossible.
