... Prince Town is about 30 kilometers southeast of Huangshi. According to relevant historical records, Sun Quan of the Eastern Wu Dynasty built the town here during the Three Kingdoms period. It now has a history of more than 1,700 years. Over the long years, the name of Prince Town has not changed. Strolling through the thousand-year-old ancient town
On the streets, you can still see the traces of the ancient town's quaint history, and you can still hear many beautiful legends among the local people.
It is said that in 229 AD, after Sun Quan proclaimed himself emperor, not long after he made Sun Deng the prince, he learned that Yangxin County, which was Wuchang County at the time, suffered a severe rainstorm that had not happened in a century. The area turned into a marsh, and thousands of people
The houses of the victims were flooded and their food was destroyed, and they were wailing in the fields. They dragged their children with them and were desperate.
Sun Quan and Sun Deng hurriedly went to the disaster area to provide relief to the victims.
As soon as Sun Deng entered the disaster area, he quickly took emergency measures. First, he set up simple tents on the mountainside of the mountain to provide homeless victims with a shelter from wind and rain; then he mobilized food and distributed it to each household.
After the rain stopped and the water receded, Sun Deng immediately organized the victims to resume production and rebuild their homes.
In 240 AD, a "plague" was prevalent here. Groups of people suffered from diarrhea and malignant sores, which could not be diagnosed and treated.
Prince Sun Deng once again came to the epidemic area to administer medicine and treatment.
Because he traveled from house to house day and night and had direct contact with patients, he also contracted the disease.
After learning about it, Concubine Wang, whose natal family lived in Yichang Village in this town, immediately sent people to her hometown. Under the guidance of Concubine Wang, she ate tofu made from local groundwater every day and wiped the mud from a large local cave to defeat the disease.
So the method taught by Wang Guifei was implemented in the epidemic area, and the patients recovered safely.
The prince provided disaster relief twice in a row. The local victims were deeply moved and called him "living Bodhisattva".
In 242 AD, Sun Deng died of illness.
When the bad news came, the local people were extremely sad. The rich contributed money and powerful efforts to build a magnificent temple here, named "Prince Temple".
Sun Quan was also grieved because of the loss of his beloved son. In order to express his gratitude to the people here for their love and righteousness, he ordered a town to be built here, named Prince Town.
Today, the "Taizi Temple" still stands in the center of Taizi Town.
For thousands of years, the "Prince Temple" has gone through vicissitudes of life, and it has been destroyed and rebuilt countless times.
However, there is an endless stream of good men and women, and the incense has lasted for thousands of years.
Prince Tofu has also been popular for thousands of years.
According to reports, there are hundreds of families in the town continuing this ancient business of making tofu by hand.
The prepared Prince Tofu will not fall apart or go bad after being left to float in water for a week, even in high temperatures. Whether it is cut, grilled, fried, boiled, simmered, fried, frozen, mixed or tofu, Prince Tofu is delicious.
It won't fall apart or break into pieces, it's sweet in the mouth and has an endless aftertaste.
Therefore, when outsiders come to Prince Town, they don't eat game, but eat "tofu feast". Soybean oil, bean crispy rice, and bean dregs are all treasures that people can't put down.
At the end of each year, citizens from Wuhan and other places come to Prince Town to buy tofu. There are often busy traffic in the market town and the supply of products exceeds the demand.
Exquisite cloth stickers for the prince's clothing to accompany the royal concubine. Luo Qiuju, 80, is a well-known expert in cloth stickers in the town of Prince. The old man is neither deaf nor blind, and he still works on cloth stickers at home every day. He is a unique talent in the prince.
.
According to reports, the old man learned to make cloth stickers from his mother when he was very young.
Decades later, the old man is still obsessed with folk crafts and often receives "orders" to produce exquisite cloth stickers for folk collectors.
The old man told a beautiful legend: During the Three Kingdoms period, in order to thank Sun Quan for his relief, the people in the disaster area gave Sun Quan a 16-year-old local girl named Wang Guihua, who was well-educated, well-educated, and pretty, as his concubine. Sun Quan was delighted with his appearance.
However, people in the disaster area still felt that their gratitude was not enough, so they sent various colorful cloths to Ms. Wang Guihua as her dowry.
Wang Guihua knew that the villagers had just suffered from floods and were poor at home, so she came up with an ingenious way to cut a corner of the floral cloth sent by the villagers and draw various patterns: such as double dragons playing with beads, Luan Feng and Ming Guanyin, etc.
Patterns such as descending to the earth, a unicorn delivering a child, a lion playing with hydrangeas, a carp jumping over a dragon gate, etc. Then, according to these patterns, match different colors of cloth and paste them into paintings, and then add gold or silver thread on the edges of the cloth and sew them together.
Made into screens, door curtains, tent curtains, streamers, pillows, mandarin jackets, purses, sachets and other accessories.
After the dowry entered the Wu Palace with the princess, Sun Quan couldn't put it down and praised it as "the prince's cloth is a unique one in China".
Since then, this folk craft invented and created by Wang Guifei has been passed down from generation to generation in the local area.
Over time, "cloth stickers" evolved into a sacred object for rural people to ward off diseases and suppress evil spirits.
According to Chen, the former head of the Taizi Town Cultural Station, Taizi cloth stickers are famous both at home and abroad for their exquisite craftsmanship, realistic patterns and unique production.
In the early 1990s, works such as "Qilin Sending His Son" produced by Prince Edward folk artists were sent to Western Europe for tours and exhibitions, and 10 works were collected by the National Gallery of Art.
