This is a very wonderful and useful book by Chip Heath, a professor of organizational behavior in stanford graduate school of business. This book tells us:
However, some moments are much more important than most others. After a lot of research, psychologists have confirmed that some experiences will not be gradually faded with the forgetting curve, but will be fresh in memory. The design of these peak experiences does not require much investment, but it will bring unexpected gains and experiences to people. How to design this "decisive moment"?
① transition events
the first week of promotion, the first day of school, the end and start of the project and other transition events are all good opportunities to create a peak experience.
② milestone events. It needs to be commemorated with a sense of ceremony.
? 3 trough events. When life encounters a trough, creating a peak experience is not only the most effective, but also a kind of comfort and encouragement.
all peak experiences are composed of one or more of four elements: joy, cognition, glory and connection.
(1) Happy moments
Happy moments are "peak moments". It refers to an experience that goes beyond the usual days, which makes us feel focused, enjoyable, surprised and motivated.
There are three elements to create a joyful moment:
① Enhance the sensory enjoyment
Turn up the "volume" of the real world to make things extraordinary in terms of vision, taste, hearing or feeling. For example, there are flowers, food, music and dances in the wedding, the "trial of humanity" is arranged in a real court, and all the characters will wear costumes, and so on.
② to increase irritation
is to add some pressure that will help improve efficiency. For example, the nervousness before a competition or a speech on stage, the heated debate during the human nature trial, and so on. See if people have the urge to take pictures and remember this moment at this moment, and you can know whether this is a happy moment.
? (3) Breaking the script
Breaking the script is to create a surprise and let people have a wonderful experience that is "unexpected and reasonable".
(2) cognitive moment
① tripping over reality
One foot is stuck and the human body loses its balance, which is tripping over. The so-called "tripping" by reality means that the brain is stuck by a certain truth, which will also make people lose their balance. When people realize how serious the problem is, the truth awakens people. This cognitive moment is called "tripping over reality".
② Breaking through cognition
Why can the cognitive moment bring the peak experience? Because it is a breakthrough. Sometimes you will break through yourself and understand your abilities and boundaries. In this process, if you can meet a "high standard+confident" mentor who can give you direction and support, then those decisive moments will light up your life.
(3) glory moment
①? Recognize others
The easiest way to create a moment of glory is to recognize others, and sincere praise for others will bring great power.
②? Set more milestones
People have a natural desire for milestone moments, because milestones represent glory.
in the process of reaching the ultimate goal, we have set ourselves one clear hurdle after another, which is like one milestone after another. When people pass the upgrade, the joy and satisfaction brought by the "glory moment" will naturally push you to the next milestone and finally let you achieve your goal.
③? Exercise courage
Mark Twain once said: "Courage is not the absence of fear, but the resistance and control of fear.
The "exposure therapy" recommended in the book is a way to make people face their fears directly, but they need to exercise their courage step by step.
(4) connection time
①? * * * With a sense of mission
Although it is good to have a chicken blood-like work passion, in the long run, it is more meaningful for a team to have a sense of mission. The mission produces a connection with others, and your work is social. Even if you are exhausted when you come home from work, your heart will be full, because you have had another meaningful day.
②? Deepen feelings
Here, I strongly recommend the "36 Questions" of psychologist Arthur Allen:
③ Precious moments
When you look back on the past, you will find that those beautiful and precious moments are actually not expensive, but what is rare is the heart. Please pay attention to the possibilities contained in every moment.
In the days to come, let's create joy, arouse cognition, inspire glory and encourage connection. These extraordinary moments are the crowning touch that makes life meaningful. It is the meaning and mission of our life to design beautiful routines in the world, create beautiful moments in the world, and let life experience more joy and beauty, happiness and happiness.
