There is a local custom of eating picked tea in Shanwei. The raw materials of picked tea are rich, and they are like vegetables and drinking tea. They are also provided in some traditional restaurants! There are many delicacies in Shanwei.
Such as vegetables, bowls, rice rolls, cabbage balls, huangdou (caetou circles), etc. The editor has not had the opportunity to understand them all, so I will briefly talk about what I saw in the snack street.
Sticky rice Shanwei's sticky rice has its own "temper", with two flavors, sweet and salty, which are both distinctive and integrated with each other.
The sweet ones have a salty taste, while the salty ones are inseparable from the sweet taste.
Salty glutinous rice with barbecued pork, fried peanuts, pickles, etc. with marinade.
If sweet glutinous rice is sweet, add some sugar.
In comparison, I appreciate the sweet and slightly salty sweet glutinous rice more. The sugar particles hidden among the soft glutinous rice can "encounter" with my teeth at any time, and together with the sweet barbecued pork, they awaken the sensitive areas of the taste buds.
Flat noodles and flat noodles are called wontons in some places and dumplings in others. Let’s not dwell on that for now.
Shanwei's flat food is like a small dumpling with a thick skin. It is cooked with thick noodles and put into a bowl. Mix the sauce evenly and add sausage, barbecued pork, green vegetables, etc. to create a bowl that can be eaten dry or served with soup.
Special flat noodles.
Fish coal, fish coal, some shops write mei next to the word "rice", but I can't find this word.
Mei means porridge in Shanwei dialect. As the name suggests, fish coal is porridge cooked with fish, usually conger eel (called Ma Yu by Shanwei people).
The white porridge gently surrounds the conger eel, with the aroma of celery, the crispy fragrance of fried garlic, and the pepper that eliminates the fishy smell and enhances the umami flavor.
It may not feel amazing at first, but its special taste makes people wake up from a spring dream, endless aftertaste, releasing the charm little by little until it is deeply imprinted in the taste memory.
Jiumao paste is made from a kind of aquatic plant called Jiumao paste. It looks like white jelly but has a crisper texture.
Jiumao paste is a common popular dessert in Shanwei. It is added with sugar water when eating. It is refreshing and relieves the heat. After eating, the whole body feels refreshed.
There is more to Shanwei than this. The seafood food stalls are one of the regrets of my trip. This is a good way to "tempt" me to go again.
The trip to Chaozhou, which has been planned since last year but has yet to take place, will definitely become one of the destinations this year.
Shanwei has many unique local delicacies, but now more and more outsiders are coming here, and they don’t know much about Shanwei culture. The new arrivals have a certain impact on the local culture, and Shanwei itself is getting better and better.
Come out to the outside world, and gradually lose a lot of things in the course of time. People have become rich, and no one sells traditional snacks!
I hope that one day we can still see that our traditional culture can be preserved.
