Binhai Road was built in the 1970s. This was originally a war preparation road, and both ends were guarded by troops. In the early 1980s, Deng Xiaoping visited Dalian and suggested that Dalian should be opened. Since then, this road has become a tourist highway. 1August, 988, the State Council designated this scenic spot and Lushunkou scenic spot as national key scenic spots.
Binhai Road, with a total length of 32 kilometers, can be divided into four sections from Haizhiyun Square to Bangchui Island, Bangchui Island to Tiger Beach, Tiger Beach to Fujiazhuang and Fujiazhuang to Xinghai Square from east to west. Each part has different scenery and styles. The main scenic spots running through Binhai Road are: Haizhiyun Park, Bamba Island, Stone Trough, Tiger Beach, Beida Bridge, Yanwoling, Xiuyuefeng, Fujiazhuang, Baiyun Mountain, Jinyintan and Xinghai Square. Binhai Road extends westward to Xinghai Park and Heishi Reef.
Haizhiyun Park is located in the northeast section of Binhai Road, a seaside scenic spot in the south of Dalian, with an area of more than 450 hectares and a coastline of1.200m.. Haizhiyun Square in the park covers an area of 38,000 square meters and is named after the large-scale group sculpture "Haizhiyun". Laohutan Ocean Park is a peninsula seaside park, surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the sea on the south. Beida Bridge is located between Laohutan Scenic Area and Yanwoling Scenic Area. It is a dry bridge across the seaside valley and the hub of the east-west coastal highway that runs through the whole Dalian coastal scenic area. Peking University Bridge is a three-span simply supported stiffening truss suspension bridge with a total length of 230m, a mid-span span of132m and a bridge width of12m, in which the carriageway is 8m wide. The mountain range of Yanwoling Scenic Area is east-west and forms a mountain range about L kilometers long. Because black swallows often come here to nest and breed on the cliffs, it is named "Yanwoling".
