If you are only in Kunming, there are basically various parks in and around Kunming, Ethnic Village, Green Lake, Daguanlou Park, Haigeng Park, Yuantong Mountain (Old Zoo), Wildlife Park, World Expo Park, Stone Forest, etc.

For accommodation, I recommend the Tuofeng Inn in Jinmafang. It is a youth hostel. It is in the city center and you can go shopping at night. The upstairs of the Tuofeng Inn is a bar where you can go clubbing. The sound insulation is very good and you can also read books.
